Oxborough to Wealdstone is a bit of a wierd night be for me, would have hoped he could have got a L2 or L1 loan
Sounds like Idah scored a hat trick for the U23's in 5-3 loss at Dordrecht today. Simon Power is on loan at Dordecht. I don't know if he played.
He did. They were playing the Dordrecht first team as well. Video of all the goals here: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/watch-idah-hat-trick-city-u23s-1-6198029
Bilal Kamal appears to have joined the University of New Hampshire Wildcats? Can't find anything to confirm it, but looks like he was released by NCFC at the end of last season? Certainly a very different move to most academy players! I guess it's an education plus playing football, so gives him a way out of pro football?
Decent performance for an away match. That's a very strong looking line-up considering how many U23s are out on loan.
Loan roundup this week is depressing, an Aston Oxborough Clean Sheet is as good as it gets. Husband got sent off, and basically everyone else had very minor roles, or didn't play.
Latest loan round up is more positive: https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/canaries-loan-watch-1-6223168
News is a week old but haven't seen it mentioned: Ciaren Jones' loan to Eastbourne has been cancelled, despite it being a season-long loan in principle. Can't find a reason why, but he hadn't played a lot. Given he was apparently being chased by other Premier League clubs, it was a surprise to see him loaned that far down the football league, and even more of a surprise it hasn't worked out.
My impression was the lack of playing time. One of the problems with loans like this is that the player has to fit into a new playing style, probably very different from Farkeball. Having said that, our U23s don't seem to play that way either, so perhaps it isn't that important.
I’ve also been a bit concerned with some of the loan reports coming back, I’d say 50% don’t seem to be featuring in the starting 11 for the clubs they are at. Fair enough it’s the start of the season so I guess they may be adapting, hopefully we will see them all playing big parts at their respective teams this season, ready to push on at NCFC next year!
Are the U23's playing 4-4-2? There were some comments from Webber previously about it being less important that the youth sides play in the same formation, and more that they develop the players we want them to. Clearly strikers are the most expensive, hard to find players, so if we play a 2 striker formation in the academy, then we can give twice as many young strikers playing time. The underlying themes of controlled possession, etc, can still be taught despite a different formation.
