It looked nasty and could have caused an injury but I believe it was an accidental stamp .

Could have easily have been a straight red regardless of intent.

Excellent summary Cromer - myself and the fans around me were baffled by the delay in being able to bring on subs.
Oddly, Chelski subs happened pretty much immediately

Agree with Robbie re:VAR I thought it would help teams like us. The foul on Krul was given as a goal and we all would be bemoaning the fact that the ref gave it incorrectly.

Also had every sympathy with Farke asking about the amount of added time. There were far more delays than just five minutes.

Call me a tin foil head, but I’m convinced the way they add time is manipulated.

Quote: "The shape and press the Londoners employed was impressive, specifically going out to target our chosen ways to play through teams. This wasn’t the frenetic heavy metal press experienced at Anfield where the whole defensive line struggled at times. This was a more considered prog rock version. Much more sedate, but often effective, and it centred on stopping Trybull and Leitner getting their foot on the ball, while also denying the full backs the kind of space they need to carry City up the park. Frank had done his homework."

Lampard of course has the advantage of having crossed swords with us last season, but we can now expect other teams's analysts to be taking note and to be routinely facing this nullifying strategy from now on. It will also have been noted that when Chelsea's guard dropped and they pressed less aggressively (each time after taking the lead in the first half), we immediately cut them apart and equalised. Lampard made sure this didn't happen in the second half; he kept the pressure on and secured the points. Well done Frank and over to you Daniel.

There are protocols for allowing substitutions to be made without excessive interruption of the game. If Chelsea's subs happened "pretty much immediately", most likely they had everything well and properly prepared. Did we?

Absolutely, we had a goal kick and all 3 subs were standing by the 4th official!!

Agree with this Robbie. Lampard won that tactical battle but DF won the approach to both our goals when we overloaded the left flank and their defenders couldn't cope with 5 or 6 vs 3. BT sport showed that graphically after the match but MotD completely ignored it so they could talk about Frank. Buendia was a key player in crossing over to create the overloads but that part of his game seldom gets noticed.

As for VAR, I agree that it saved a goal being awarded wrongly, which is why I support it, even when it goes against us. Hopefully it will cut out a lot of the big club advantage this season. More difficult to deal with the award of added time.

Iv just watched the goals back. Godfrey is just as much at fault for goals 2 and 3. He lost position when rushing out to Mount for his goal, leaving Hanley to get turned inside out. If he had held position, he would have been there when Mount cut inside. He then got turned inside out by Abrahams after he had done Hanley for the 3rd. None of our defence covering themselves in glory tbf. Leitner also very pedestrian in his attempt to chase Kovacic back in the build up to the 3rd.

    I sit close to dugouts.
The problem here was the 4th official was not ready.
He had to input 3 subs, and 3 to come off.
I cannot understand making 3 subs at same time

Thanks BB - that explains it and yes, I fail to see the need to make 3 subs at once.

It's nothing personal and I for one would have loved to have seen him score from that shot that wouldn't have counted because he was offside, or own the Norwich defence like a true captain with hundreds of hours of Premier League career experience .

He made a few good blocks but most of his game was spent, passing sideways to Krul or the nearest player.

Or running backwards looking frightened or getting put on his arse .

No Swash no buckle no verve he's a bread and butter average Championship defender and not suited to Farkeball like Zimmermann or Klose.

It's not his fault but any defence with a minus 8 conceded in 3 and a keeper playing very well must look at themselves for an answer.

Godfrey was amazing but he needs a better partner.

    In my humble opinion.

Suffering a bit from confirmation bias I think. Hanley didn't get evetything right, but he did do somethings well. He certainly played as well or better than Arron's or Buendia and he wàs on par with Lewis. It's not just the responsibility of the CB's to defend.
