Drmic probably won't be fit for consideration until after the international break, unfortunately, which creates a bit of a headache/opportunity.

Srbeny up front, Cantwell at 10, give Emi some minutes to try and get fully match fit?
Srbeny up front, Vrancic at 10, McLean at CDM. Of our central midfielders, Vrancic seems to possess the brain and height that the Stiepi-role requires. Might be an opportunity to experiment.

Wouldn't surprise me either if Godfrey plays alongside Klose to test that partnership, with Amadou stepping into midfield instead of Tettey. We know what Tettey can do.

Dave Freezer's take in his 6 points:

"New boys Ibrahim Amadou, Patrick Roberts and keeper Ralf Fahrmann will all no doubt be desperate for their debuts against the League Two side, with full-backs Sam Byram and Philip Heise in similar positions. Fit-again defender Timm Klose will surely be looking for a start, as will Mario Vrancic, Kenny McLean and Dennis Srbeny after run outs as substitutes on Saturday.

Despite losing to Chelsea, it seems likely that a superb performance will be needed to force a change in the starting XI for the West Ham game on Saturday. But let's not forget, it was the second round win at Cardiff last season which went on to shape a large part of last season's successful team, when Max Aarons, Marco Stiepermann and Emi Buendia came to the fore."

    For me:

    Fährmann

    Byram Hanley Klose Heise

    Tettey Amadou

    Roberts Vrančić McLean

    Srbeny

Subs: McGovern, Aarons, Godfrey, Trybull, Leitner, Cantwell, Idah

(Both Amadou and Tettey for match fitness and because Amadou can also play as a box to box CM)

I'd prefer to see Amadou played in his planned DM position to get some useful match time there even at the expense of Tettey. Could we possibly see Srbeny drop back to the 10 role as he did in pre-season which would give an opportunity for Idah to show us what he can do?

I'd be happy with those changes, with Tettey to relieve Amadou to avoid a hamstring or other injury. If Idah starts, Pukki would have to be on the bench.

Biggest piece of team news is that Zimbo might well travel and get minutes from the bench. Drmic out, but Idah is fit. Amadou, Roberts, Fahrmann likely to be included.

Tettey ruled out of the Crawley game for family reasons. Suspect Amadou might feature in midfield, or Trybull.

Surely this is the ideal time to get game time for
Fährmann, Amadou, Roberts, Byram and Heise. Same for Klose, Vrančić, McLean, Srbeny and Idah.
