Crawley players getting booked for harsh tackles!!! Edit - How can we be so poor with the players we have??? Looks like ours is the only 'cup upset!!!'
FULL-TIME: Crawley Town 1 Norwich City 0 - an awful night for the Canaries as a totally changed team are beaten by League Two opposition.
Depressing night to be sure. There were glimpses of promise from individual players but the play was disjointed throughout with the 11 changes showing. I had thought we had enough depth for this to work but not sure now. Fährmann did everything asked of him. The deflection meant he had no chance with the goal and he made a good save in their only other shot on target. Roberts had some good touches, especially after Buendia came on but we just didn't have enough to break down a stubborn defence. Credit to Crawley who played really well and deserved to win. Not sure how much we can draw from this, as any of these players would probably look good coming into our first choice team, but assembled like this had difficulty joining up the play. Last Saturday's team would have walked this I'm sure.
A terrible night. Our second XI is not as good as we thought it might be. Pray nothing happens to Pukki because we're not going to score many without him. How bad was Vrancic? Was he sulking because he hasn't been in the first team? He's a classy player and simply cannot play as badly as that unless he isn't trying.
2nd 11 Not that old excuse...They are all squad players chosen to play in the premiership season.....They should be much better than Crawley whoever plays....
Feckin load of ****e, it’s quite simple really and you don’t need to be a bleedin’ brain surgeon to work it out. Play your BEST first eleven for the first 30 mins, blow ‘em away then bring on your reserves. FFS sake this happens every year, I’m no football coach but I have got common sense, Jesus ****in’ Christ !
No, that was planned, but Godfrey had to come on for Klose, which wrecked the plan. Amadou did all right at CB, which is one good thing.
Planned for half time, but had to do an hour. Bit of a hip problem too apparently. Hopefully not too bad.
From updated report: Farke dipped into his resources 10 minutes after the break with Buendia replacing Zimmermann, who appeared to pull up sharply just before a stoppage but ran off the pitch unaided. Farke revealed he suffered a knock to his back in his post-match press briefing but the big defender is not expected to be out for any length of time.
Having listened to Radio Norfolk, I'd say the best performance on the night was Matt Jarvis in his summariser role alongside the commentator. It was good to hear from an ex-player of recent vintage, unburdened by how football was played in years long gone by. Based on Matt's observations it sounds as if Heise put in a particularly good performance, Amadou did everything his two roles required of him and showed glimpses of the reasons why we are all excited to have him with us, and Byram and the rest of the defence put in decent shifts. The big disappointments were McLean, Vrancic, Roberts and Srbeny, none of whom advanced any claim to displace the current shirt-holders on Saturday.
Maybe so, but spare a thought for players, staff, fans and all associated with Bury FC - that will put some perspective on things. Bury expelled by English Football League https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49451896
