Quique Sanchez Flores will leave Watford at the end of the season. The 51-year-old Spaniard, who was appointed in June, will exit Vicarage Road after Sunday's final game against Sunderland, despite leading the Hornets to mid-table security in their first season back in the Premier League and an FA Cup semi-final. It is understood owner Gino Pozzo has moved to activate Flores' break clause in his two-year deal, which will see him leave the club 12 months early. "The club and me don't have the same point of view about the season," said Flores. This would suggest that he had a two year contract that he could have expected to see out seeing as he had at least a reasonable season result wise. Clearly QSF and Gino did not see eye to eye, so it is surprising that he has returned.
No, Flores insisted on the break clause be inserted in the contract so both owners and coach could assess how things were going. The leaving was mutual and not a 'sacking'. Their differences were obviously minor enough to give it another go. 'Pass the pies' Samuel is already slavering gleefully over his keyboard concocting misguided comments to bash Watford FC tomorrow. The last thing we need is help from our own supporters.
Nothing is duller than watching WFC losing week in week out. I'm quite happy however QSF plays his team as long as we stay in the EPL. I remember how difficult it is to secure promotion from the championship. Despite the silly and confused detractors I'm sure the Pozzos will have another coach in mind for next season. This appointment was sensible at this time given the availability, or lack of, suitable other options.
We may have a lack of options in any case SH. Most top managers are going to steer away from us - so our search is restricted to journeymen who have managed countless middling Italian or Spanish clubs, and who can work with the scattergun approach to team recruitment employed by the Pozzo's. No manager who wants to create his own team and cast his character over the club is going to touch us - and that rules out all the best ones.
Laters Javi - your time was up really. --------------- Harsh. In fact very fickle. Had VAR done its job, you'd be on 3 points with four other clubs. Far too early to push the panic button. And to replace him with someone you got rid of not that long ago, man I hope for your sake karma has a short memory.
Pozzo's are harsh, end of last season was not good enough and start to this even worse. They had to do something.
Good - the right decision. Anyone criticising the owners or defending Javi doesn’t really understand the last few years at all and wasn’t watching the end of last season either.
From what I understand, this is a temporary appointment until the end of the season. And yes, 3 wins in 20 means this was not a knee jerk reaction, maybe the timing is surprising and certainly the appointment of QSF seems strange at first but the decision to move on is right imo and if we stop and think about QSF, bad as it was in the 2nd half of the season, he did make us difficult to beat, was strong defensively, and he knows the club and the league. Time will tell, as always. COYH!
Cue the we always sack managers mongers. Grim for Javi really but sadly understandable. He'd done really well, then we have been in tail spin mode for a while now. Can QSF turn it around? He will hopefully stop us letting in a mountain of goals. He has a better squad to work with this time round and all. Will Jurado come back?
A shame but not totally surprised given recent form running back from last season . Didn't really seem to have a plan B and certainly favoured players others. Mind you Gracia cannot be blamed for the lack of decent defenders brought in the summer I guess. Is Flores the answer? Again started well but his season badly fell away with the suggestion that he wasn't in any mood to hang around . Did organise us well though and will hopefully get more out of the attack!
Well he comments on everything and anything - always got a Tweet at his fingers ready .. And it's usually some knee jerk reaction which Twitter is all about .

WFC cannot afford or attract the top managers. There will be no shortage of suitable candidates for the post of coach at WFC in the future. Coaches fully understand the Pozzo model, they earn good money, gain valuable experience in the EPL and always find future employment. We have great owners at the moment. The club has again made the cup tie (Swansea) most affordable, £10 adults, £7 seniors, £4 students, £1 kids. Well done Gino.
