Big centre forwards may give our defence problems at set pieces. They have injuries in the flank attacking positions which may help our wing backs to get forward with out fear.

Slow at the back.... time to put Taylor on the bench and go with Moore and Rudden up front, assuming Joel Grant isn't ready for 90 mins?

So Ryan Lowe is saying that he has a full squad to pick from.

Telford and Byron Moore up front and Aimson and Josh Grant in defence seems to me our strongest pairings.

Defeat today will personally not be acceptable....a tighter defence and a quicker attack should be too good for this motley Div 2 lot....well that's how I see it....but if my prediction results are anything to go on.....we'll probably lose.

So Lowe is keeping Wootton and Canavan together.....does that mean that Aimson isn't fully up to speed yet.

Ryan Taylor seems to be preferred in front of Telford....or is he not fully fit.

I would expect Aimson and Telford to get game time today.

    0-0...H/T

Port Vale a little unlucky with injuries....used all three subs by the 35th minute.

Argyle have had more shots at goal....but only one corner against four for Vale.

Just like the tele these days it's becoming repeat after repeat. Not good enough. I think the honeymoon will soon be over if this keeps up. Another chance to lose a game on Tuesday evening.

Couple of quotes from Ryan Lowe:

“Sometimes, when there is a bit of pressure on us, some players revert back to type. Well, no, you revert to my type or you don’t play. We didn’t get on the ball as much as we should and play our way because, once you beat the press, you’re alright. It’s do what I ask you to do or don’t play."

“If strikers don’t want to get in there [for a tap-in], you find yourself out of the team"

“I’m not going to paper over any big hole but there are a couple of cracks, and we have to sort it out. It’s up to me now to potentially make changes and pick a team I think is capable of getting results."

So is Lowe saying that is non-Bury players are reverting back to their... 'Adams' style that got them relegated last season.....we know that the defence is mostly the 'original' from last season.....but he had Aimson on the bench and he didn't bring him on.....

In the attack he replaced Taylor in the 64th minute with Telford....<confused>.

I don't think it's quite as black and white as The Old versus The New but there are issues to be resolved.

It has been said that his mantra is "OK you score 3 but we'll score 4" but in fact we aren't scoring enough. Apparently Mayor got at least one killer ball across the box but there was nobody there. I wouldn't be surprised to see Joel Grant feature on Tuesday. The whole idea is to overload the opposing defence with the 6 front players, including the wing backs, swarming forward quickly, so it's not just the front two to look at.

If we were scoring 3's and 4's, conceding wouldn't be such a problem. The bigger question about our back 3 is whether they can play the ball out creatively, because if they can't, the whole machine fails to start. Aimson should get a go in place of Wootton I think as the later isn't creative and has made costly defensive errors.

The other question is the RWB position, where we've created far less than down the left through McFadzean. Joe Edwards has been playing ever so well as the holding midfielder and you've got to question whether it was right to move him to RWB yesterday. There are a number of candidates: Cooper, Sarcevic,Telford, Moore. I know they aren't defenders but creating chances is the priority in Lowe's set up..............

Efe Ambrose is looking for a return to Celtic at age 30....do you think he would sort out our defence if got hold of him?

The thing that's starting to bug me is...new players arriving and stating that Argyle are a BIG club and their pleased to be here.

10th in Div 2 doesn't suggest to me that we're a BIG club.....what we do know is that since Hull had a spell in the Premiership we've inherited the ball and chains of being the biggest City that has never played at the top level....personally I can't ever see us ever again playing at the second level either....why are we so rubbish at football...it can't just be because we're one stop from America..

It's 2020 next year....400 year anniversary of the Pilgrim fathers sailing from the Barbican steps (or so we're told).

When Simon Hallett visited PASALB awhile back I asked him how he saw this...a great opportunity to get the States involved.....he agreed but nothing seems to have developed....so do we have to wait another 100 years and try again.

Just watched the highlights on IFollow. By all accounts this was a poor performance but still it turned on small thing. The ref gives an outrageous handball decision against Baxter when the ball's struck at him from a distance of a yard or less and from the resulting free-kick, Port Vale score, Where do they get these refs?
