Has James Fowler (assistant manager) left?

Not sure how reliable my source is on this so please don't shoot the messenger - I'm hearing that James Fowler has left the club.

It's a text from a mate who is normally pretty good with these things but has been known to blow things out of proportion son occasion - think it's on SMB too

 

Him and the coach have both gone. I told Gordon, last week, that they've arranged new schools etc for the kids.

And, as I said yesterday ...

... "Ross is currently our caretaker manager simply because there's no one else at the club who could step in. As soon as the new man is available Ross will be gone."

 

Jose or big Sam will be here next week i hope, they will have different 2nd half tactics. Zinidane is dodgy at Real at the minute maybe he might come and bring Bale on loan.

 

People will have to change their attitudes.

We're about to go into an era whereby we'll be looking to compete at the top level.

We've already looked at the likes of Howe, Dyche, Allardyce, etc.

These people mean business and we all need to get with it.

I'm starting to believe the phrase 'typical Sunderland' applies as much to some supporters as it does the club.

 

strange I must've missed that about the coaches - I saw the one about Ross though - although if he wins every game between now and the end of the season I think they'll have to keep him!!

 

Fowler was credited with all of our defensive training work so it makes absolute sense to me to get shot off him

If they're really looking at managers like that, nothing has been learnt from the Ellis Short era.
From listening to a variety of former players on various podcasts recently it sounds clear to me that the club needs rebuilding from the ground up, a job that Donald has already started. The parachuting in of relatively expensive premier league managers sounds like remarkably like the McMenemy affair all over again and doesn't address the real issues, such as the limited playing squad.

 

Why not do both, bring in someone like Dyche and address the limited playing squad as well.

There's no point having 4 billionaires if we stick with Ross and the likes of Power, Maguire and McGeoch.

 

If this is happening today then it's not the best preparation for a very important game on Saturday.
What is it saying to the manager?
Keep getting the wins Jack even though your on borrowed time.
If there was/is to be backroom changes then surely they happen when the next set are in place to step straight in.
Not against change if it's not working but we've been down this road many times recently and were still waiting for it to work.
in these circumstances I feel sorry for Jack and his team.

 

I think he already knows tbh.

But he, and the team should be professional and get on with the job.

Especially the team, their futures are at stake.

 

Looking at managers like that is straight of Troy McClure's infomercial "so you own a football club and know nothing about football". It smacks of billionaires saying "who's the best English manager? Right, pay whatever it takes".
To get the most from those four billionaires they need to be complemented by someone with a proper understanding of football. When I read up about them, I was excited because it sounded like they had the nous to build the club properly, maybe to use a similar model to the one they used with the Miami Marlins. Howe (who can't do it away from Bournemouth), Dyche (ok, perhaps not too bad), and Allardyce (a dinosaur) don't sound like the picks of anyone who's given the issue the deep thought that I had expected of them.

 

Personally I'd stick with Ross and buy him quality players, I think he's a good manager he's just a bit overly cautious which is something he can improve on and would be less of an issue with a quality side. I see potential in him and it'd be a shame if we ditched him and he fulfilled it somewhere else.

 

He's certainly made mistakes but the current team is his team and to improve it it requires tweaking. Bringing in a new manager at this point creates upheaval and possibly wholesale changes to the squad. No matter how much money the new owners have, they still have to abide by the expenditure rules.

 

So you'd say no to Dyche?

 

There's a few on here talk both ways depending on who they are addressing, I'v been saying some of this for weeks, coaching useless etc and have been slammed, now its all singing and dancing, and what has happened to The Little General, or has he changed his

 

Aye I think we're in a position where if we had say four quality (for league one) players swapped with four of our mediocre ones, a CB, CM, AM and CF, that'd be plenty to get us promoted comfortably, as it is we're only a win or so away from the top two. If that meant paying up contracts to get rid of a few players then so be it.

I personally don't see the need to change the manager, I can see why some do but I'd keep him and see what he can do with better players.
