Dunno mate but he built a good squad at Leicester that wasn’t too far away from the League winning side. And knacks wolves in his spare time.
Claudio Ranieri “There is a saying in Italy that you do not sell the bear’s skin until you have shot it.”
I think your right. A bit simplistic as there was more to it but we hit on a system with Philips and Quinn which team's struggled to cope with but once they sussed us out we failed to move on. From the dizzy heights the decline was rapid.
Has there been any indication of a time frame for the appointment? Prefer someone this week to start working with the squad, getting their messages across before the Wycombe game.
Anybody, who can whip this squad into shape, motivate them, and get them playing decent, attacking, football, along the deck. I was tired of seeing "football" which made my eyes bleed, every week, and losing the will to live, by half time, under Ross
Is that the surrender from of fans who seemed to be on a sponsored silence for 90 minutes despite taking an early lead? We will never know for sure, but I think that played a massive part in us not getting promotion..
Someone who understands us as fans and a club. Someone to explain to the match day squad that they have to leave everything on the pitch and in return 30 thousand plus will sing their hearts out and roar them on The odd decent tactic wouldn't hurt either
Hard to say as I don't know what financial state we're in so what is realistic? If we could stretch Chris Hughton would be my man Cheeper Budget then Michael Appleton looks a good shout
The team between around 98 and 01 was a joy to watch. It had a bit of everything. The best strike force we are ever likely to see with support from either wing. Summerbee was one of the best crosses of a ball I’ve ever seen and Johnson and Gray on the left linked up so well. We had a good goalkeeper and with players like Makin, Ball, Rae and Butler we were up for any fight we found ourselves in. There were just partnerships all through the team that clicked. Whether by luck or design, Reid put together a hell of a team. It fell apart when Makin, Summerbee and Clark fell out with him or the club and Quinn was never replaced (which was never going to be an easy job). The rebuild was a disaster with players like Wright, Piper, Flo and Babb, to name just a few, brought in.
