I reckon Stendel will get at as he got Barnsley promoted from this division last season and that's what a club of Sunderland's size will be looking for.
I know Ross is gone but this is a nice piece about Luke O'Nien https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...ure-after-championship-summer-interest-643071
Why would Gareth go now, if the new owners don't happen I think he will be off like a shot, but not now.
According to some latest reports doing the rounds Sunderland have approached wycombe and talks are ongoing about compensation if the deal goes ahead.
"Sunderland are working on a number of candidates and it has emerged that it will not require much of a compensation fee to prise Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth, who has a contract until 2023, away from Adams Park. That places him in a strong position having guided Wycombe up to second in the table after sustained success for the relatively small club during his time in charge. Barnsley’s Daniel Stendel and Wigan boss Paul Cook are also under serious consideration. " I don't like the sound of this
I've backed him Ron. I really don't think our chairman would be doing himself any favours appointing Ainsworth. None of the fans seem to want him. He'd be supported but we want better in all honesty.
Hopefully that would be enough to put him/Sunderland management off and he can stay where he is wanted
I still think Reading would be a better choice for him already in the Championship, it could be easier to keep Reading in the Championship than trying to get Sunderland promoted, it's early in the season but Ipswich are already 8pts in front of Sunderland, even at this stage they are going to take some catching. I must admit with Ipswich having won there last four games & a home fixture against us even with our form they would have probably been odds on to win. Be honest we won at Rochdale with 27% of the play, they are not exactly winning games.
Possession stats are meaningless phil. Any team can keep possession in their own half or even in the 3rd quarter. It's what they can do in that final quarter that counts
it's a compliment to him that the bookies always start off making him fav. But being wanted by the fans goes a long way and I can't see him going anywhere where he would feel not wanted, given his popularity at Wycombe and the fact that making the championship is starting to look like a possibility under the "new" ownership
