Arsenal starlet Nketiah wanted by Bristol City after struggling to break into Leeds team

BRISTOL CITY boss Lee Johnson is ready to have a second crack at signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

Johnson wanted to get Nketiah, 20, on loan before he chose Leeds — with the Robins fuming that he did not turn up for planned talks at Ashton Gate.

But he still needs a striker for the promotion push and the Gunners have the option to recall Nketiah in January.
The England Under-21 ace has been largely restricted to the bench under Marcelo Bielsa and Arsenal want him to get regular first-team action.
He has scored four goals in eight appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Nketiah revealed last month that he ignored Unai Emery's plea for him to stay at Arsenal.
The striker said: "The manager wanted me to stay so it's really confidence boosting for me that he had me in his plans.

"But I felt like it was a good step for me to come to Leeds.
"I hope it's a good year that can leave me in good stead going back to Arsenal to fight for a place.

"There were a lot of options, there were options for me to go to Germany but me, my family and the club decided Leeds was the best place."

I saw this too, I have mixed feelings about this , bottom line for me is if him coming here gives us a better chance of promotion then fine.

Afobe for me is a better player and I would love us to sign him,Palmer and him playing together was a joy to watch.
Nikita would score goals in our team and would improve our goals ratio. The concerning thing for me is 42 points are up for grabs before January a huge amount.
    We need someone now.

Afobe isn’t going to be fit until next season or maybe the very end of this, then there will be a question mark over his future fitness.

The question raised by this article is whether Nketiah, if he were to be available (big if), in Jan should we look to bring him here , bearing in mind what happened pre season,

As for needing someone now , I Agree in principle, but our options are so limited the reality is we are unlikely to be able to get anyone suitable.

I still think if we can afford him that Bony is the best bet. Still under 30 and has a pretty decent record behind him. His motivation is what would worry me, you sense he would only be with us to move on after to bigger things, but then, we only need a stop-gap, so is that a bad thing? It could be a win, win if we sign him until May.

Since 2016 apart from the Qater league he’s scored 6 in 35 games. That’s no better than what we’ve got and worse than Diedhiou.

Rodri had him on a short list of 4! AFTER HAVING Played in this country it was a bonus but at 29 and being let go after 1 season [ couldn't locate how many goals time etc ] team was promoted! not good enough for higher division ….

Eddie Nketiah scored a hat-trick as England Under-21s maintained their 100% winning record in Euro 2021 qualifying by easing past Austria at Stadium MK.

I was talking to a friend this week who works at Arsenal's London Colney training ground, and the rumour is that they are running out of patience will how little game time Eddie Nketiah is getting at Leeds. Apparently there was an agreement over how much game time he would get and if it wasn't met he could be recalled. Naturally, that doesn't mean they will loan him out again, especially now Emery has been sacked, but there may be a chance. Question is, if we still have to pay Afobe's wages, can we afford him?

Assombalonga would be my choice - obviously depending on his wage demands - but he can’t be happy with mid-table at Boro.......

Rumours are gathering pace that Leeds are after Gayle on a permanent signing, or Brewster from Liverpool on loan, perhaps they have been told that EN is leaving?
The Brewster deal is hard to believe as Liverpool have publicly stated that they would fine any side that didn't give brewster the game time that Liverpool want, and given that is the likely reason Arsenal would recall EN, it seems unlikely Liverpool would take that risk.
