From Nick Barnes. 'Ha ... long story. He wasn't against the signing but not at all costs. In the end the signing was unilaterally made by SD. JR had signed off the window and happy to continue without Grigg.' I am sure SD stated that it was JR that wanted WG all along
6 of 1, half dozen of the other. The way ross set up safc, a striker like grigg was never going to work. If its parkinson I doubt his goalless streak will change any time soon
I will grant you that but a footballer with good technique ( and in this pub league he does have that ) is wasted in a ross team. Being part of hoofball must be so disheartening for such players. That's why I believe the young strikers we brought in disnt work. They were used to proper football not the travesty ross advocated.
I must be stupid (of course I am) but I know very little about this Parkinson... what I know is he is very Ross like young? And well thought of by some... so I am feeling a little underwhelmed with the prospect of him coming and managing.
Parkinson's record is below. His PPG will not get us promoted. Sorry I do not know what you mean 'Ross like young' please log in to view this image
But with us he'll be working with a group of players that are the best in the division rather than the mish mash he's had to work with elsewhere! I won't be over the moon if it is him but I'll give him a fair chance and not talk as though he's the equivalent of Steve Bruce at Newcastle
SD said on podcast that Ross' view was "guaranteed goals" when SD floated the possibility of getting him in.
I don't blame either of them for thinking that, it was some random journo who said it so dunno if it's accurate but apparently Grigg is the leading goal scorer in league one, ever. Even if it's not then he's still scored a lot and on paper should have been a good partner for Wyke. Unfortunately we signed him injured and by the time he'd recovered his confidence was gone. For me the failure of Grigg was more unlucky than a blunder on anyone's part.
I think you're a bit obsessed with the "hoofball" line mind. Might not all have been pretty but to say that was all we did is a canny exaggeration.
Which young footballers are these, our football worked OK for Maja, Will Grigg looks permanently disheartened to me, just what are these strengths I keep hearing about ?, I have yet to see any evidence that he has any or gives a toss.
Have to say I agree totally! We have created chances for him - most strikers would have 5 or 6 goals for us this season with the chances he's missed (I can think of 4 "90%" chances and at least 6 50% ones) Watmore has had 1 chance all season and has 1 goal! I don;t see anything to convince me potherwise in Grigg - like you I want him to prove me wrong - I'm desperate for him to prove me wrong (or, technically, to prove me right as I thought he'd be just what we needed last season!) - I just can't see it I wonder if it is a lot of a confidence thing. Wigan fans in this league started the game singing "Will Grigg's on fire" almost every game even if he didn't score. He hasn't had that from us - I know it's a chicken and egg scenario but wonder if the crowd from game one had been singing that, if it'd have made a difference!!
As mentioned before though its not like hes been deadly accurate when he has had service. I personally think the twat wants scattering.
I thought it was disaster on the boardrooms part. Why the **** we are paying that much money on a player to try and push us into the championship where he not up to standard just proves to me they wanted to flog the club on asap.
