Maybe he was running his jet and F1 car on carrots and peas? And his tyres made from pasta? ....He could be excused then.

But his job is to jump from country to country. The dog probably helps keep some normality. I'm glad he has spoken out, I also hope he deals with his eco depression in a positive manner. Must be dreadful having people point the finger because of his job. Of course his carbon footprint is massive, he's a racing car driver!

I think the point has entirely eluded you HR.

I think you might have missed the point. I've highlighted it for your convenience.

    I’m Confused.

HR, are you defending Hamilton or should your red sentence have been in blue?

He never said that it's the only way. If you read his quotes he says he wants to do his bit to help. Which in his case is selling his jet and going vegan. I guess people will use any excuse to have a go at Hamilton.

Just loosely looked up how many tyres are used in a F1 season and according to red bull racing in 2013 ...33,300 were used ......that’s a lot of rubber.

It’s typical Lewis - his thoughts are in the right place, but his delivery is a bit clumsy.

He’s trying to use his platform for good though, so all power to him.

I think we all have good intentions about this, but how many of us feel strongly enough about it to stop flying away on holidays?
I know that I won’t, which is why I am a bit of a hypocrite and why I won’t throw accusations of hypocrisy at anyone else.
In the last year, I have switched to Octopus Energy, recommendation from Which, because their electricity is 100% renewable and carbon offset gas, on their Super Green Tariff.
Might not be the cheapest available, but.....

Depends on what you believe I suppose.

I'm of the opinion that it's far too late for this and that the damage is already done - unless we're going to start killing people off as that's one of the biggest issues.

I certainly don't believe that a few individuals making the odd change is going to have any sort of effect when you look at the bigger picture worldwide. Are hugely populous countries such as China and India going to fall in line? Doubtful.

As admirable as it is, a few British people taking the bus instead of driving and eating less meat isn't going to reverse generations of abuse. The only way we'd stand any chance is to have governments enforce these changes and for there to be worldwide cooperation with it. I simply can't see that happening.

With that in mind, and for myself personally, I'm not going to make wholesale life changes, which reduces my quality of life, on the off chance it's going make a difference. Because without any of the above it just won't. Not that I'm slating those who do, fair play to them if it helps them feel better about the situation and I'm not judging anyone else. Just my feelings.

We ****ed nature over for years and now it's preparing to **** us over in return.

There's nothing wrong in doing what you can do within your own circumstances, but as far as I can remember you haven't got on your soapbox giving lectures on how the rest of us should live our lives. If you did that you should expect to be called out as a hypocrite as Hamilton and a few others are.

I get your point, but if it’s going to happen, it’s got to start somewhere. There’s got to be a beginning, and to show others the way. Maybe it won’t work and the worlds populations will continue as they have done. But if we don’t try, then there’s no chance anything will change.
