HULL CITY ARE PLEASED TO REVEAL DETAILS OF A REVISED TICKET PRICING STRUCTURE, WHICH COMES INTO EFFECT FROM LATER TODAY. The changes have been made following positive and productive meetings with the Club’s Supporters Committee, with the aim of developing a sustainable and long-term approach to increasing attendance figures for home games at the KCOM Stadium whilst ensuring that Memberships remain by far the most cost-effective way of watching the Tigers in action. Under the new structure, around three-quarters of current Members will see a reduction in their monthly payment from December 2019 onwards while no current Member will pay more than they are currently doing so. The new structure also sees the introduction of one flat price all around the stadium with match categories abandoned (the South Stand being the area in which family-orientated matchday activities take place), while ‘Saver’ packages are being introduced for those that attend multiple games during a season but are unable to commit to a Membership at this time – further details on the new structure can be found below. please log in to view this image Memberships £30 per month for Adults – which works out at just £15.65 per match over a 23-game home league season! Part of me wonders why the dramatic turn around, and before some say it's because they need the revenue, surely with these price changes they aren't actually going to be making much more money? Wonder if they're pushing to make the club more marketable to a prospective buyer?
The membership reductions are, I'm sure, welcome. But for those buying one-off tickets (and presumably they're some of the key people to win back), isn't this a price increase, at least in some parts of the stadium? Which seems Allam-bonkers. Eg, I paid £30 for West Brom at home, this would now be £33, no?
Ignoring the South Stand, which was set up primarily for families, the Cat B games were were £30 to £33 and Cat A games were £33 to £36, depending on which stand you went in. There's not a massive change really, though this has obviously been set up to make it much more attractive to be a member.
Ah ok. Still, I would have thought reductions all round would be most sensible. So West Brom was a Cat B game? Surprising. (Cost me £30 in E4)
Most of those buying a one off ticket will be away fans wont they ? Also without any fanfares they opened up the bar on the East Stand concourse which had been closed all last season for the last home game. Someone is listening.
The article says payments change from December onwards, the FAQs say 2nd December. Payments are done on the 1st? So payments in December will still be the same? Or are they factoring the fact 1st December is a Sunday??
“If you look at the work we’ve done over the last 18 months has all been about us reengaging with the fans and to fix some of the issues which admittedly we’ve created ourselves,” said Allam. “Eighteen months ago we decided to reengage with fans. That’s what we’ve done with the crest and branding, with the return to the concession model. “But we were still receiving some complaints from that so we decided to set up a steering group from the Supporter Committee group, which we did with seven members. “We looked at the concessionary pricing with feedback from the fans and it’s been a process over three or four weeks. The feedback has been really good and everyone is very happy with the pricing structure. For me it’s been about the repairing of bridges with the fans.” “It’s nothing to do with the loss of the parachutes,” he said. “We’ve had a reduction in the player wage bill to offset the loss of the parachute money. Our player trading has been really good and again that’s offset the loss of the parachutes. “We’ve always said we want to build a sustainable model for the football club and the player trading can do so much more than a few tweaks in the matchday (ticket) pricing. “The real reason for me is that we’ve worked so hard behind the scenes when you look at all the departments to put on a show for the fans. If we’ve got all of them with us then I think we’ve got a really good chance of a top-six finish. “We need the support of the fans. The team needs the support of the fans.”
A big step in the right direction, apparently Ehabs on Humberside sports talk tonight, admitting that they got it wrong with the membership scheme, and other things.
Maybe Ehab has finally worked you need fans on board to be successful. Bloody steep learning curve and it’s a start.
Whilst I agree that single match ticket prices are too high, it’s impossible to cover every angle really, and this new pricing structure seems - on the whole - very fair. Only they have the data to make a proper calculation but I think a single match price of £25 and increasing the membership match price to something like £18 should be there or thereabouts in terms of revenue but give an easier buy in point to newcomers and the now and then crowd. But then it leaves little room to squeeze the match bundles in. I like the idea of having the whole stadium the same price.
Looks good to me. The single price model is something I've advocated for quite a while. If done right, it should help resolve the issues of people complaining about standing etc, as people should gravitate toward the appropriate area of the ground..
Just one question, don’t prices for the season need to be decided and announced before the season begins and any offers need permission from the league?
On the face of it, this looks to be a much more agreeable price structure than anything before under their tenure. I never thought I would see the day they actually admit they got it wrong, but credit to them for coming out and saying it. I hope it has the desired effect and gates do increase, and the club can go on to reach a top six place.
It's obviously a good move, the only downside is that they've still not addressed the disabled concessions, which is disappointing.
They are obviously favouring memberships and match cards (and the 6 and 12 match packages), having pricing like this means away fans pay £33. If you go to any games at all getting a match card makes sense. I'm actually surprised by this , they didn't have to do it
