Richard Taundry hails Dean Smith as best Walsall boss

Utility man Richard Taundry says he rates current manager Dean Smith as the best Walsall boss he has ever worked with, according to the Express and Star.

The 22-year-old reckons the Saddlers are lucky to have Smith and praised his man-management and running of the club.

Smith took Walsall to safety with last term's 'Great Escape' as they avoided relegation to League Two by a single point. The Saddlers had been eight points from safety at New Year.

Taundry's previous managers have been Chris Hutchings, Jimmy Mullen and title-winning Richard Money, but he insists Smith ranks above the others.

He said: “What he did from Christmas was unbelievable, it was a big achievement so it just shows he’s capable of doing the job.

“Around the club he’s talking to each player and there are no favourites. There’s a good feeling around the club when you know you can go into the office and have a five-minute chat here and there.

“I’ve had a few managers and, with man management, he’s the best. He keeps on top of his players and knows what we’re doing. Personally he’s been brilliant with me so I’ve got no problems.

“The main aim was to stay in the league and our chairman, Jeff Bonser, has given the gaffer the opportunity to start afresh next year and everyone’s excited to see what’s going to go on.”

 

He's a very good manager but I wouldn't say he's better than Richard Money, on par maybe.

I'm guessing Taundry is trying his upmost best to get in Deano's good books. Because he's a **** football player.
