Good Morning. It's Wednesday 20th November, and here are the latest headlines

    Hernandez commits future to Leeds.

Pablo Hernandez had agreed terms on a new two-year deal at Elland Road, which ties him down until he's 37.

It was widely suggested hat the 34yo would hang up his boot at the end of the season to go in to a coaching role, but the lure of a 30 month contract was too good to turn down

Hernandez has two goals and two assists in 10 appearances this season.

He joins Klitch, Cooper, Dallas and Ayling in signing new lucrative long term deals, but are these players good enough for the Premiership? Furthermore, the length of the respective deals will mean that each player will be at least 32 when their contracts reach maturity!

Can multiple players of that age still play high tempo Bielsaball?

Whelan - We need another Striker

Noel Whelan has expressed that Leeds could fall short for a second consecutive season unless they strengthen in January, and according to the Soccer pundit who is still close to the club, they have no plans to sign anybody in January!

“Right now, the word coming out of Elland Road is Leeds are not looking to buy anyone in January,” “That would be a mistake.

“We need another striker. Defensively, we are very good, but we are winning matches by only one goal, the margins are too tight.

“We need three natural centre-forwards minimum, and I don’t count Tyler Roberts as one. Clearly, Bielsa doesn’t either as he uses him in an attacking midfield position.

“If Leeds are serious about promotion they need another striker in January. We are currently without Eddie Nketiah due to injury. What happens if Patrick Bamford gets injured at the weekend.

“I would be very suggested if Patrick went the whole season without getting injured. His career history suggests he will at some stage.”

How much of a gamble are Leeds taking if they do not strengthen their squad in January?

    Your first ever Leeds game

When was your first ever Leeds game?

    How old were you?

    Did the Whites win?

Were you hooked from that moment?

Have you ever had to sit with opposition fans to get in to an away match?

    Were you found out?

Morning all. Seeing as you were looking for congratulations this morning Matt, happy Birthday again <doh>
Can I be the first to criticise Whelan and say he knows nothing of Leeds or football. I don't actually believe it but it seems to be the accepted response here whenever he opens his mouth especially if he's being in any way critical of our messiahs

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

The argument that we gave contracts to old players is a joke and makes no difference if we gain promotion. Promotion means any of these players get a chance and if it fails can be sold for market value into the Championship and the younger players would be probably capable of playing in the Prem. Kalvin Phillips would be sold if we dont go up because he deserves a chance and we will get full market value due to his contract. Not seeing Pablos contract as long one and we may fund out the thinking. I also bet he didnt get a wage rise

Not sure of the year but my first game was Liverpool and Ron Yates was their big CB and we had Bobby Collins as our little guy along with Bremner, Charlton, Reaney, Cooper

Morning Doc, What is the market value for a Liam Cooper of a few seasons ago with a 5 year and 5m contract. He'd be happy just collecting his wage packet

Cooper is now a full International and a club captain. Both those things inflate valuation. Cooper will not be going anywhere in the next couple of years and by then he will still have 2 or 3 years on his contract so a good price will be had for the club. You can do a similar calculation for the older players who may get sold upon promotion or half way through season 1 back in the Prem. I think lessons have been learned regarding longe contracts for crap and these latest deals are not crap players they are seen as key players. These same key players will attract offers from any club trying for promotion...

First game I ever went to was Arsenal v Leeds, FA Cup 4th round, 1983 I think ? Finished 1-1, not bad as it was our first season after relegation to division 2. Been in with the home fans on a few occasions in the past. Not done that for a while though, last time was when I took my son to his first game. We were sat in the Orient end for Orient v Leeds in 2010. That also finished 1-1 as it happens. My son's abiding memory was shouting out to Casper Ankergren and the puzzled look on Casper's face as he looked around wondering why an Orient fan would be shouting his name.

Good Birthday Morning to Matt and co from a chilly Bardsey
My first game was I believe in 1949 vBrentford which we won I think 2-1 but its such a long time ago I maybe wrong my memory gets better in the mid fifties
I think S;purs have been very silly replacing Posh with Jose who quite frankly has lost his aura and is no longer the special one infact he is living on his reputation past tense
I expect he will be sacked before the end of the season they would have been much better getting Howe
Has Dallas got injuredthis should give Leaf a few games
With Wed in trouble I think we could get Jordan Rhodes for nothing just to get him off the wages bill I know he has hardly done anything recently but who knows what Bielsa can do

Back on Pablo I have just looked at his stats over the last 3 seasons and 2 of those seasons were mid table, but he has averaged 41 games per season and scored an average of 9 goals each season.

probably not going to do 41 games but he did play in 40 last season but some as sub. So he has obviously been one of the better players we have had since his arrival and therefore deserves a 2 year deal, especially if he is going to help the kids and maybe learn to coach

I’m happy with all the players that have been offered contracts being given them.. personally, I just think they are all too long. If we get promoted they will have upsides in their contracts, so if they are not playing then they are a drain on resources and hard to sell on because of their wages. I like cooper, (play off aside!) he’s cut down the error count and has done well for us... but I can’t see Cooper commanding a big fee in 2 or 3 years at the age he will be... the length of contract makes them harder to Offload rather than drives the price up at that age.

Ultimately, we’re not party to the discussions and IF they are getting haggled into lower wages but over a longer contract period, then there is a cashflow and FFP element that might be driving this.

Its easy enough throwing around big contracts Milky when the current owner is unlikely to be the one paying for the last few years of them if all the takeover rumours are true eh <ok>

Morning all, first game was Man City away, my mum's family are from Manchester and was visiting relatives when Leeds were at main road, my dad talked my Uncle into giving me his ticket and we won 0-1 Trevor Cherry goal I think.Been in many away ends, funny thing happened at one Ipswich away, always used to stand right at the front in the Kop,and did the same at Ipswich, well the ball came over to me and I caught it, Mervyn Day came over and with the Ipswich fans shouting for me not to give it to him, I just handed it straight to him, he gave me a funny look of WTF you doing in here, recognising me from Leeds. Got a few dagger looks for giving him the ball from the Ipswich fans. <laugh>
