What, brutality? In a war? surely not.

British Army = Best in the world. But they aren't angels, they're human beings, and they aren't police, they're soldiers, so when it comes to patrolling amongst civilians, best keep that to a minimum.

That's just the problem. You can't spot the f***ers cos they hide in plain sight, endangering their own communities by launching their attacks from the middle of em.

You can spot the British army though, they're the poor sods walking around in uniform waiting to get shot at before getting the all-clear to defend themselves. Which often they don't get at all, because the risk to the civilian population is too great.

If you join the forces, you go where your country sends you, to serve it's interests. In recent decades the British Army has protected innocent lives and defied tyrants and murderers in places as diverse as Cyprus, Sierra Leone, Kosovo, and Afghanistan, as well as defending British citizens in the Falklands.

In the same period there have been some disasters, like Iraq and Northern Ireland. But as I'm sure you're aware, Harold Wilson sent the troops into NI to protect Catholic civil rights marchers from their neighbours when the RUC couldn't cope. Obviously it didn't end well, that one, but I don't accept that the British Army should take all the blame.

What, like the Taleban? What would you do, invite them top an international Peace Conference and politely ask them to leave?
