A Norway style deal would involve free movement of EU citizens, which is what probably most Leave voters primarily voted to limit. Hence, why May refused to entertain it.

The whole reason why there was a referendum vote given was because Cameron's objections and attempted renegotiations were rejected and the UK was told to roll over and accept it. And it had happened several times before. It's fine to be pro-EU, but you have to accept that the increasing political power over nation state members was and is a worry for many.

Ruled by the EU ? Only 8% of our regulations are from there and we make 99% of all decisions !

There were many lies and exaggerations from the Leave campaign. But it wasn't all lies.

I don't understand what you mean by 8% of regulations. Do you mean laws, directives, trade standards, statutory instruments or what?

Steady on with the facts there !
People seem to hold the EU accountable for all our problems it's nonsense .
USA have the same kind of issues and they're not part of the EU .
Globalisation and the Power of China are a lot bigger issue I'm afraid !
Trade negotiations will come with certain visa for citizens requirements !

The complaints about the EU are that the Meps have relatively little power and are obliged to vote as told and that the actual directives are decided by a small cabal of decision makers and power brokers.

The infrastructure in the UK is a tad damaged. An independent Scotland would, as you say, end up bankrupt. A point seemingly recognised by everywhere except Glasgow and Dundee.

The again it could be fun to see what happens when Corbyn nationalises all the utilities, and then hands them over to Sturgeon, leader of an independent Scotland. The family McWotever living in the middle of nowhere or on an island in the middle of nowhere have every right to services and utilities as a family living in Glasgow. Fairly straightforward repairing a faulty power supply, burst water main or settingambulance response times in a city. Out in the boondocks? The new years eve face painted bravehearts may have wanted freedom. The rest of the country saw sense.

I mean I could trot out the stats on how many times we've voted for against and abstained (roughly 95%,2% and 3%) but is there much point?

The EU is far from perfect, but we are so much better off in than out, as a member of the EU we are one of 3 (with France and Germany) who lead the EU and are major players internationally. Yes we are net contributors when you look only at the money in and money out, and it is nowhere near the ludicrous figures suggested by the leave campaign, but there are so many intangibles to consider on top, the number one being access to the SM and CU and the opportunities that affords us. Every single economic modelling of leave scenarios the govt, the tory govt, has produced shows a significant drop in gdp far greater than the net contribution we make. If/when we leave we will cease to be an international leader and player, and find ourselves as a little island of the coast of Europe looking wistfully back on the days of empire and wondering how we managed to **** it up so royally.

I don't know if that figure is true or not. Not sure that that many leavers voted out because of the worker and human rights legislation. I saw it, and can be corrected, as a protest vote against increasingly impotent and incompetent UK politicians who have been coasting in their jobs for decades and reliant on seceding control of many laws and regulations to the EU, so they don't have to do the hard work themselves and can focus on twittering about a 4 year old lying on a hospital floor. Brexit will mean that they'll finally have to start doing their jobs properly, taking time to be educated and actually make decisions on behalf of their constituents, rather than taking £85k salary and talking nonsense before every election.

My argument wasn't whether you're better off in or out. It was that the Leave claims weren't all entirely without justification.
