i think some commentators forget or at least completely overlook how non-competitive the scottish premier league league is. good oppotunity to sell Forster right now surely?! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50711633
I'm dreaming of a tight Christmas Just like the ones I used to know Where Santa Claus lundekvarm glisten Stayed in position Kept opponents score to zero I'm dreaming of a bright Christmas With every game that we will play A festive thriller Beating west ham and villa Climbing, the table on the way. Bought to you by the Andy Carol singers.
Pompey falling All around me Saints are playing Having fun Tis the season Love and understanding Except for, the pompey scum Brought to you by shakin defence stephens
I'll get along with anyone. "Hitler" types might be a problem for me. But I've got along with a Pompey fan. And we've laughed at how absurd it all is. There was a time though that I picked up a Southampton lad to fetch him back from Portsmouth University. And once the neighbour across the road from the lad's digs realised he and I were from Southampton, the venom was clear. It's not nice, and it takes a heck of lot for me to generate the anger to knock someone's lights out, but I had to generate it, just to be prepared. Awful feeling.
Yes, I have a mate who is a Bristol City fan, but his dad is RN retired, a lifelong Pompey fan. Whenever Alan and I meet, he always hails me as a Scummer, in a jocular way. Not had much to do with the latter sort of football fan of any persuasion, fortunately!
The lad who is a Pompey fan now lives in Cornwall. Boscastle to be precise [lucky bugger], and is a postman pat with his own van. [maybe even a b/w cat]. He's a really nice bloke, and although I have no real conversation with him apart from football, I look out for him whenever I go to Cornwall [which isn't often enough], and occasionally we'll go to the local and have a game of bar billiards or snooker and waste away a couple of hours. People are the same. All this venomous rivalry is BS.
It isn`t non-competitive, rather the quality just is not very good. As for Forster, he`s getting a regular start in a winning team, so his confidence is back.
I agree but you've got to admit there is a certain edge when we play Pompey - winning feels even more important than normal and there is an anger there. Especially when backs are against the wall and we endure the abuse they hurl, only for us to have the last laugh and beat them 4 nil!
My wife works in Stafford and was abused by a Stafford based Pompey fan in the shop where she worked, to the point where she had to walk away and get someone else to deal with them. Just about sums them up
A Pompey fan called my son a scummer to his face because he was wearing a Saints top...my son was seven. In fairness I will concede that some Pompey fans are tolerable....my brother for one
I'm eager to see Armstrong getting a run in the team, so if he is fit to start I think I would bring him in for Long. Ideally I'd also bring Boufal in for Redmond, but it sounds like he is still not yet ready. Win the match, and it becomes a really positive recent return of points. Lose though, and it will begin to feel like a missed opportunity and will really ramp up the pressure on Villa away.
Feel a bit grumps today. No real reason. Friday 13th???? Oh well Christmas party tonight and if still not happy, I will take it out on Mark Noble tomorrow. Looking forward to this one, the late kick off makes it a bit more inconvenient but should be a good atmosphere. COYR
Can't see our 422/424 going well against their midfield tbh and I think we'll end up losing 3-1. Still think West Ham are a better side than their current league position too. Would definitely bring Armstrong back in if fit again.
We need an early goal, and them to down tools. They don't seem to be fighting for MP, so we need to make it difficult.
