Aye, but you've got to factor in the trauma of having me travelling army of synthetic supporters taken away from me and thrown in the bin. Couldn't see your modern, millennial snowflakes coping well with that one.
I hope you have a picture of you in the outfit and please post it. I forgot how much I loved playing cowboys and Indians as a kid loads of toy guns in our house. Always reminds me of my dads favourite lie to me I killed all the red indians in hull Chazz No you didn’t dad there aren’t any red indians in hull!! shows you what a good job I did then son!! I believed that for years
We had that one. The first 45, I remember was little white bull by Tommy Steel. Cheers Dad, I mean you could've got Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields, but no...
I got a handful of 45's with it - luckily enough, it was all the stuff I liked; Dusty Springfield, Beatles, Stones .... my old ma had great musical taste.
Our first was a blue and white stereo job, 1966. The 2 halves of the lid contained a speaker each and they could be lifted off. First record I remember was White Christmas by Connie Francis.
Seem to remember it needed a bike pump to inflate her. Supplemental, and very useful, ancillary gift was an extra large tin of inner-tube repair patches.
Even when my Dad was an old bloke, his taste in music just got worse. He loved the pop stuff like the Spice Girls, you know party songs in the charts and that. He danced like a proper Dad as well Me mam was a far better influence with Motown and the like.
Action man, complete with space suit ( so must have been the time of the lunar landings) and a home made ( by big sister) Hull City kit. Subbutteo was another favourite. Pitch was glued onto hardboard, as it was so annoying if there were creases in it. First set were card (rather than the moulded) players, anyone remember those?
Perhaps this record would have been appropriate for you. Was a big fan and last saw him when he toured Aus in 1983. My husband brought the red and white Dansette record player to Aus when he came by boat in 1966 leaving his sister to look after his priceless record collection accumulated since the late 40's. When he went back a couple of years later for his dad's funeral she said she had either sold or given them away!
I remember once having to choose between a Space Hopper or a Scalectric, like an idiot I went for the Space Hopper and regretted it ever since!
I had a Scalextric when I was very young but it kind of got usurped by a computer and the heavy amounts of varying outdoor play myself and kids in general then would do (I do feel for kids nowadays who have nothing of the sort). Thing I really remember about Scalextric - the smell.
