Does anyone think this will make an immediate change to our fortunes? Personally bringing Phillips in or A. N Other , in my opinion will make no difference whatsoever. The whole club from top to bottom is in need of a major overhaul. Just sacking the manager will not solve our problems. If/ when it happens the playing staff need totally sorting out ( Ie a striker who can score goals on a regular basis, a captain on the pitch who leads by example (bring back Tony Towers!). Not cured overnight Prognosis not very good Happy Xmas
The club is in a very poor place at the minute and as you say it needs - yet another - total overhaul from top to bottom. My reading of the situation after match where PP didnt turn up for the press conference is that he knows the fans dont like him, he knows that they want him gone, his record is extremely poor but irrespective of all that its an impossible situation he finds himself in. He shouldnt have come as he looks completely out of his depth. I cant imagine he is particularly happy about what he has walked into. As for sacking him - his record needs to improve or like all managers he will be sacked. His record is dreadful, its not getting any better but does Donald have the money to sack him? SD has made one bad mistake after another, should have appointed Pearson and SKP when he had the chance but I bet he simply didnt have the money. The first person to leave the club should be SD. Clueless and hopeless IMHO and totally out of his depth here. Every game that goes by takes us closer to the foot of the table, not the top and marooned in mid table ATM, in our equal lowest league placing ever (12th after Marcos debut is our lowest ever - now equalled) and the whole season looks like it could blow up in our faces. Something has to change because we cannot keep going on like this.
I think that the fans are fed up with this now. The club are absolutely hopeless and stumble from one crisis to another. The latest debacle is beyond the pale really but in answer to your question - no, ATM it doesn't look like it will ever change. People have, understandably, had enough.
I agree completely. We're asking him to do something that would be very difficult for another manager too. Also a bit sceptical that SKP would come to us at this point.
Only quoted that as it’s all want to question that paragraph is simply a complete contradiction “had the chance” but “didn’t have the money” If a manager asks for too high a wage, then we didn’t have the chance. Has Phillips joined Pearson at Watford? If not then chances are Pearson has his own team so the whole thing seems total pie in the sky to me.phillips wanted the job. I didn’t want him. He’s a “fans choice” but if it goes wrong, he’ll hate this place as our wonderful supporters will turn on him in a heartbeat. Ok he might get a few extra heartbeats compared to most, but the fans will turn if things are going wrong. What are Phillips’ qualifications to come in? Oh best forward in 2 generations. Great. Quinn was up there with him. Disaster as manager! I love SKP. But in our current climate I want him nowhere near our side
I I am more than convinced a proper manager ( not the insipid yes men we have had aka ross and PP) would even now have this current squad in the play off spots. That we have PP's bib collector suggesting we did well to get a point and maybe could have won it is testimony to how the last 2 managers have instilled a 'roll onto your back and get your tummies tickled' mentality. We have both a soft centre and exterior and that is a direct reflection of the coaching. Plenty of managers in this league have done more with an awful lot less. The chancer in chief has used smoke and mirrors in his financial dealings to take over the club and has now proceeded to undo all the good ( albeit hardly substantial ) work he did 8n reducing costs by letting hill and coton loose in terms of player and manager recruitment. Pointless getting shot of PP unless Hill follows ( or even better precedes ) him out the door. We know he wont do that. He is known to be in complete thrall to Richard 'jumpers for goalposts' Hill. It's like having Hitler organise a bar mitzvah.
I think he'd jump at the chance. What's to lose for him? If we carry on being useless he'll go, gaining managerial experience in a brief spell. However he could be the one that brings back the glory days. I think he'd jump at the chance and I'd have him, the only thing I could think of where he may not come is the actual state (internally) of the club.
This keeps getting mentioned over and over again. Why does anyone believe in a world where Sunderland have gone from Grayson, to Ross and then to Parkinson that Pearson would have even remotely considered it.
I think the last bit is most relevant. He knows that there's a mess a-brewin' here and much like Ashley in Newcastle, that's going to mean anyone with another option (or who doesn't want to be associated with the ownership) is going to think long and hard before jumping into bed with Donald.
Give him the money and Pearson would have considered anything. The problem is - we have no money. I simply cant believe that what little money we have we are going to use to give to Parkinson to buy even more bargain basement ****e. The club is totally devoid of any semblance of good management anywhere in the club - which frankly would have been SD's best route out of the this piss poor division. No money and **** management right throughout the club. A recipe for absolutely nothing. You dont spend vast fortunes in this division to get out of it. By and large you have to rely on good management - management that we dont have and refused to pay for it. We are down here for a while yet and it'll dawn upon SD fairly soon that he has sown a seed of more problems by appointing cheap, useless managers.
He will have a decision to make very shortly. the pounds signs will drop from his eyes as he views whats coming down the line when the parachute money runs out.
Sorry but any half decent manager would have this squad in the top 6 atleast, the league is piss poor. We were 6th before he came in
I see they have wheeled out that lovely polite lad watmore to say really nice things about PP . 'Barrel, scraping, bottom' are words that spring to mind.
