If a centre forward plays **** and yet scores a hat trick then he has done well. That’s what he is on the pitch for. Alternatively he can play fantastic and make loads of assists for the others to score goals. Either one of those would do me. At the moment he is not doing either. But as a City player I hope that he clicks into gear and does well. That’s what everyone wants I hope.
And that's fair enough. I think he's doing well in almost every area except scoring, which unfortunately as a striker is what he's judged on primarily. I thought he was fantastic against Leeds and he's obviously a very skilled player with an excellent first touch. He may be the sort that needs a season to adapt to this level then he'll hit the ground running, or his bad form will spiral him into a lack of confidence at this level. He seems like a level headed guy so hopefully it's the former and we give him the chance.
Of course. But that’s not what I’m seeing at times. What I’m seeing is people saying he is **** when he has played well. Improved performances don’t seem to count once minds have been made up and nothing can sway them. It has happened countless times before. Lately with Henriksen. I find it odd. Maybe I’m the oddity here.
There you go, case in point. Eaves has had I think three assists in recent games - but they don’t count once he has been consigned as not good enough.
As Al said, he has been making assists, KLP's first goal the other week was assisted by Eaves for example.
Agreed. i think it's the way some "fans" appear to take delight in voicing their opinions on how **** a certain player is. Les appearing to take particular pleasure in it for one. His constant criticism of Sam clucas for one, There are others. The ****er cave seems to want to say we threw **** at the wall and hope some stuck as our transfer policy. Absolute bollocks. We have enough criticism and sneering at us from our enemies without our own doing it to us.
3 in 27 was quoted by Sky before Fridays match I believe. I stand corrected. That said 3 in 22 is still not great
Probably not great, no. He’s gone up a division, moved to a new city, joined an entirely new squad where he knows no one. Why would you expect him to be great from the off?
I understand fully. Tommy Eaves was also my MOTM v leeds. I've watched KPL from being a young lad playing for the under 21's ( could have been under 18's) and he looked slight and light weight even for them, until he got on the ball. This is a huge step up for the lad and he isn't over awed at all by it. His positional play is excellent as is his confidence. He might not have appeared to have been involved at Charlton but he still needs marking and the second they took their eye off him he scored the equaliser. He deserves ( and needs) all the encouragement in the world. Eaves was tightly marked at Charlton because they rate him and therefore a bit ineffective.
It's an observation, nothing more, nothing less! It's also an opinion I pays my money, I support my team, if you have a problem with other supporters views on occasions, it's your problem not mine
That’s a real shame Al but there’s a saying for centre forwards ..you’re only as good as your last game or last goal. Great expectations I’m afraid. To come off the fence though I don’t think three assists in 3 games is a good enough record for a big lad like that.
Would you agree you have a history of slating your own teams players? I seem to recall you revelled in calling Sam clucas Clueless all the time!??
