Oi oi!!!! Don't you just love supporting the greatest football team on the planet?!! I know I do. It's time for a song! Just buy yourself a ticket, no excuses not to go, We’re playing really well and it’s two wins in a row, In less than two days we’ll be up against Cry-stal Palace, Palace?! Who the f*ck are Palace?! Up to mid-table, we’ve really got a chance, And if we manage that, I might give a little dance, In less than two days we’ll be up against Cry-stal Palace, Palace?! Who the f*ck are Palace?! Doesn't matter what team we put out. Between Ralph, me, and the guys... we got this, folks. Enjoy!
I'd be inclined to go Adams because Obafemi isnt quite as adept at the holdup stuff from what I've seen. Quick but so is Adams and hes a lot taller.
As well as bringing Ings back, we may have to make a few fitness-enforced changes. Hoping for same 11 but swap Obafemi for Ings
Would take a point from this. Stylistically this is the sort of team we really struggle against, and they will be more than happy to give us the ball and see what we can do with it while breaking with Zaha.
The curse of playing well against away at a big team to being utter **** at home to a smaller team. I expect Palace to sit back and be happy with a point after their win yesterday and where they sit in the table. We will need to be able to break them down and I can't see us having many chances on the counter attack (which imo is our strength). I'd be tempted to go to a 4-3-3 for this one, with Hojbjerg/Prowse/Armstrong the 3 and bring Boufal and Ings in for Adams and Obafemi. We will need creativity to break them down and having Boufal/Armstrong/Redmond in the team from the start is our best chance
I’d definitely take a point tomorrow. Although having said that, I’m going and it would be nice to actually see us win a game of football. Just seen we had 33% possession vs Chelsea. We’re definitely a better team without the ball.
And more than the crowd, whatever, I'd imagine that's why we're better away than at home. We don't necessarily finish well, and we aren't great at unlocking defenses, but if we counter quickly it's much easier to get ideas when you're in space. Just need to get on the front foot the second we win possession, because if we let teams get back, we're likely to fizzle out.
What he means is let the opposition have the ball, soak up the pressure and then we'll hit them on the counter.
Basically another way of saying it is, we’re not very good at football, but we can still win games if we work hard, concentrate for 90 minutes, and take advantage when the opposition let us in.
Even the boys in the post match interview said they recognised we are better against the ball than with it. The slow build up play we display when we dominate the ball is fery different to the fast speed of our counterattacks. JWP ran 12k yesterday. He basically ran around at 8kmph non stop.
We all know that Palace, having an old school British manager, will play deep with two backs of four strung across the back then they lump it up to Benteke and Zaha who will either break on us or if no options they will throw themselves to the floor and get free kicks about 30m out so they can bring up the big guys from the back and lump it into the box. Its that simple, just don't get overly excited and overstretch ourselves at the back by over committing to attack
