The last of 3 league games in a week is a home game against the Royals. Looking at there league position and the fact we are home 3 points is a must especially as West Brom and Leeds play each other.

In reality this will be a tough game and we couldn’t have picked a worse time to play them... unbeaten in 5, won there last 3 haven’t conceded in 4 and just won away to Preston who have one of if not the best home record in the division.

We all know that Jon Swift is there main player there Tom Cairney making them tick, we got a bit lucky at there place with Swift being sent off after 16 minutes.

With Mawson going off Hector could come in if he is eligible??? And I could see Cairney getting a rest after going off with what appeared to be cramp!

Sam Baldock has missed the last few games for them with a groin issue.

I saw their stat of some 25% possession with their 2 nil win yesterday - I think it'll be much the same and them trying to catch us on the break. I reckon Johannson will start as he has been rested through these Christmas games. Hector has been training with the team for some time so if eligible then maybe. Another win would be fantastic.

Just noted from Scott's FFC preview for Reading, Hector cannot play, his first game where he is eligible is against Villa. Late fitness tests for those with knocks and niggles tomorrow morning. So fingers crossed we can maintain a strong team and come away with 3 points.

At some stage our Apprentice manager has to learn how to play better against counter attacking teams. He can't keep making the same mistakes, he has to learn how to set up against these teams and reel in our fullbacks to defend first and double team dangerous players, if he continues to play too open our defence is going to suffer again and again. Their No14 Ovie Ejaria had a field day and Christie had no protection from either Reid or Knockaert.
Extra training on how to cross a ball on the run is needed and some one else to take corners other than Knockaert.
Their keeper, the post and crossbar had a good game, but it was only our goal that seemed to spark the crowd into life for the second half. There was not to be any Charlton-esque revival.

Feedback from Scott says he isn't happy with the players determination or spirit when it's needed and we need to do so or we'll not get consistency. I think this is aimed more so at our defending as our forward play only looks short from clinical finishing. We looked the better team against Reading but the result says otherwise, mostly down to poor luck, hitting the woodwork and a shot deflecting into our goal. Their keeper played well too, especially the triple save early on.
Although we have a biggish squad of good players we are dogged by injuries, especially in midfield and defence, how Scott can account for this and incorporate into match by match tactics is very difficult. I'd not be too shocked to see us bring in some reinforcements in the transfer window, or we will end up fielding youngsters who aren't ready for Championship football, they will get hurt mentally and physically in this league.
From today's presser, we will play who is fit enough against Villa, which says a lot.
It's all very frustrating so say the least, but there is hope of a change in fortune which maybe all we need right now, as well as a fit squad of course.
