Only a month away from the transfer window and I’m wondering what we will do?? My instinct is with the squad we have we won’t do a lot, we have already signed Hector who I think goes straight in and other than that I can see us maybe signing a right back.

The other option which I don’t see happening is Khan sees we are in the automatic promotion race and decided to throw money at getting us over the line disregarding ffp

    Sessegnon- loaned Out
    Christie - Out
    Kebano - Out

    Right Back - In

There will no doubt be much speculation of Miro leaving but he will not.
I don't see we have any great need for newbies other than Hector. We have a grand settled squad with all positions covered, no need to upset that.

Apparently we have made an enquiry regarding the possibility of signing Leicester City defender James Justin on loan in the January transfer. He has ben sitting on the bench the last / all EPL fixtures so far this season but played in the League Cup. Ricardo Pereira stands in his way to get a game, as would the vast majority of EPL right backs.
There could be some hope but only a little IMO.

That wouldn’t shock me, as mentioned in the original post I don’t think we will do a lot in January but I do think we might bring in a right back.

Fulham apparently linked with Huddersfield kosovo international Hadergjonaj whether this is or true or not it’s no surprise all our links seem to be with right backs

I know this might be controversial but I still think we need a goal keeper who has a presence about him, someone that teams look at and think we get past their defence we still have to get past him.
Having looked at possible keepers who may be an upgrade, there aren't that many about, my thoughts are only Joe Hart, John Ruddy or Randolph if he's over his injury. If all these keepers were at their best it would be an upgrade. Possible Vorm or Gomes.
Burnley might do a swap Hart (Contract ends in 2020) for Bettinelli (Fulham fans seem to have fallen out of Love with someone who was part of the 23 game run).
Not sure we need a rightback with a choice of Sessegnon, Odoi, Christie or even Fossey. Left back is more of a problem as I don't rate Bryan as good a defender as Scott Malone. I still think the poor full back performances are more down to tactics and Cavaleiro and Knockaert being unwilling to drop back and defend like Duff and Davies use to do.

I am much happier with Rodak than Bettinelli to be honest and I think Rodak deserves his chance. He's been good since he came in.

I certainly agree about left back. We concede so many goals from when teams get behind our full backs; this is doubtless a result of wingers that don't track back, but we need to either change tactics or personnel. For whatever reason, Bryan and Cavaleiro seem to have not built up any chemistry at all and the number of times the ball is threaded through for Bryan only for him not to have made a run is painful. And the ultimate bottom line is while we have 4 options at right back, we have only Bryan on the left.

We can't go into games with de la Torre/O'Reilly/Sessegnon on the bench if Parker doesn't trust them. We have some very good players on the injury list at the moment (Reid, Reed, Arter, McDonald) and Parker needs to make better use of squad players like Kebano. The emergence of Kamara over the past few games has been impressive (as has the re-emergence of StefJo) and I'd like to see if Kebano may have made similar strides, as it looked like it on Saturday.

January is fast upon us and could be a chance to fix a few problems and push on for promotion.

My personal view is with Hector already in I can see a right backed being signed but then it will be mainly out goings!

The manager of an Iranian club has stated Fulham have watched striker Mehdi Ghaedi. Apparently he is a converted winger who since being moved up front has banged the goals in.

A more interesting rumour on the out bound side is that Anguissa has been so impressive on loan at Villarreal that they will exercise the clause to sign him permanently for a believed £22 million and then sell him straight on to Real Madrid for £30 million

Rumours of an in coming £40 million bid from Villa for Mitro and Betts!

Would anybody be tempted?? If we told them to throw Kodija in as well I would be tempted.

No and Mitro doesn't want to go anywhere.

Reports that Lyon have bid £16.5 million for Seri if we add that to the likely few million loan fee we probably charged Galatasary it looks like we might actually get most of our money back.

As mentioned before Villarreal look set to trigger Anguissa’s £20 million release clause

All of which would mean that we would somehow get most of our money back on them which would surely help with ffp and maybe release funds.

I can see the argument for letting Bettinelli go if we got a good offer, given that Rodak seems to be ahead of him now, but it's nice to have two strong keepers to choose from. As for Mitro, I wouldn't swap him for anyone right now. Even if we got in someone of similar quality, you never know how new signings are going to settle and we've had big signings up front who flopped before (taxi for Mitroglou!). Selling Mitrovic would be the single thing we could do that's most likely to derail our season.

Cavaleiro is very interesting.... did anyone else see the news and immediately think that’s a loan space freed up??? Thinking we might have something in the pipeline l.

    FULHAM TAKE CAVALEIRO OPTION

Fulham have taken the option of signing Ivan Cavaleiro from Wolves.

Cavaleiro will remain at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2024, with an option to extend the deal by a further year.

Tony Khan said: "Since joining us in the summer Ivan has shown real quality and I know there’s much more to come. He is an extremely gifted player, already registering five goals and six assists, he’s been outstanding for us so far. He has the ability to make a difference in a game so I am excited that he’s a Fulham player until at least 2024."

This was my exact thought, as there's no other clear reason not to wait until the summer. I suspect we are just giving ourselves flexibility to see who might be available at the end of the window (e.g. Mitrovic in 2018).

A few rumours floating around the inter web today....

Lyon have agreed a fee for Seri believed to be around £16 million... I will believe it when I see it.

Watford considering a move for Joe Bryan no fee mentioned

Fulham considering loan move for Spurs Jack Clark, this has been around a while but just can’t see us brining in another winger.

Another one doing the rounds is Fulham’s interest in Ipswich’s young midfielder Flynn Downes who probably be more for the future.

The issue would be convincing Galatasaray to end his loan early to enable him to move, which I expect would require some element of refund of the loan fee.

With regards to Joe Bryan, I would not be too upset if he left as he does not seem to have built a rapport with Cavaleiro. The issue would be replacing him though, as we are already paper-thin at that position.

    Edun Departs
    Friday 10 January 2020 14:00
The Club can confirm that Tayo Edun has joined League One side Lincoln City on a permanent deal.

The versatile 21-year-old has been on the Academy’s books since Under-11 and holds excellent pedigree as an England youth international.

He was part of the Young Lions squad that lifted the Under-19 European Championship and made his First Team debut with Fulham in 2016 with a 3-2 win over Leyton Orient in the EFL Cup.

In August 2018, Edun joined Championship side Ipswich Town on a season long loan that was cut short due to injury. Since then, he has been a regular in Colin Omogbehin and Mark Pembridge’s Under-23 team in the 2019/20 season, making eight PL2 appearances.

We’d like to thank Tayo for all his efforts in a Fulham shirt and wish him all the best in his future career.
