Derek Shaws horses generally do well at Southwell, so I note he has one runner on Sunday in the 1.45 - Momtalik 16/1 with Cam Hardie booked for his only ride of the day. Only 2 places available but I expect this one to put in a good show and maybe squeak a place.

    Punchestown 3.15 My Club Colours

Got going to late on handicap debut at Fairyhouse over 2m when a running on 8th. Today over 2m 4 f with the very good Philipp Enright booked and of 1lb lower handicap mark could be in the mix. Money coming down on this one.

Very interested to see Meticulous back after been laid up for the best part of a year. Won on his first bumper start very easily and also ran Envoi Allen to within 1.5 lengths thereafter before something went awry at Cheltenham and we haven't seen him since. Andy Dufresne is the red hot fave in the race and will likely bounce back from his shock defeat last time out.

It's always a dangerous game second guessing any of the O'Brien runners, I wouldn't be surprised if Meticulous caused a minor upset today or moreover if he ran like a dog all year and popped up at 50/1 in March. I'm intrigued to see which way they campaign him now if he's over his problems.

One bet for myself today and that is the Gordon Elliot French import Chef De Kerviniou 5/2 in the 2 10 at Punchestown. Not a strong chase and has a fair swing at the weights with his last time out conqueror, Biddy The Boss. Paddy Mullins booked and I'll be surprised if he doesn't gain a win on his 2nd rules start here in Éire.

<laugh> I can sense another wobbly run in similiar to last year. They were conceding very little up until December which got them out of a hole as they dominate games but tend to need 65 chances to convert 1 or 2, now they are conceding plenty and it wouldn't surprise me if they went into free fall at all. Wednesday did well, stuck at it and two good finishes won the day, I liked Murphy's goal, great through ball by Nuhiu for it. Brentford seem to be hitting form at a nice time. Leeds also let Eddie Nketiah back to Arsenal so big Bamford is the sole hope of guiding them towards goals for the remainder of the season, God help us all!

You are actually into the top 6 now also, what do you reckon for the rest of the season?

Reading did you a favour against Forest. If Forest had held on they'd have been 6 points behind you with game in hand. Leeds being Leeds again and choking.

    Kelso 12:50 Tanarpino

Showed last time he is coming back to form with a fine run at Leicester (3rd). Down another 1lb. Well handicapped and going should suit.

With Tanarpino a non-runner it could be a winning day for Knockamona and the Micky Hammond yard. Has run well at this time of the year in the past and lurks on a dangerous handicap mark. Likes heavy going.

    punchestown,1 05:

well, they say,"never Judge a horse on one bad effort",so i go with CITY ISLAND here.he had a Grand Season last year, culminating in success at the cheltenham Festival, and though he disappointed on his first chase start recentzly,is surely much better than that, and he deserves his place in this today.big shout,if all is well.

Yeah, my head says they will go up though, they have the measure of most sides and have been in control of almost all games, just finding the net and being more ruthless in front of goal is the main thing. Nothing easy in that league anyway, so they'll fall flat on their arses if they don't bounce back. Owls for the play - off final?

I can’t see us in the play-offs, we don’t seem to have the consistency. Having said that, the lads looked absolutely chuffed with that win yesterday and it could just act as a springboard.
