Signings like that are only made if the owners are interested in on field success

Ready made replacement for Kane in Cavani is waiting for us but we dont dream like that. We can’t buy Cavani, it makes no sense...he won’t register as home grown and in 2025 he won’t be available for the Carabao cup team so his potential is limited aswell.

ohh not to forget his wages...dont want to lose the NET Spend Title incase we go bust

Lower League Premier League Rando Watch
Having been linked with half of Norwich's back four in recent weeks, now we're being linked with Sheffield United centre back Jack O'Connell

Based on our history, we might want to buy another one of their centre backs as one of them will come good while the other will be a bit Naughton

    Striker Hunt
Various blogs of...let's say questionable authenticity have reported that we've enquired about loaning in Luka Jovic, presumably with the enquiry saying something along the line of Los Ladrones signing him for the sake of preventing other clubs doing so so a loan won;t make them look "weak" in the eyes of their sociopathic supporters

    Eriksen Departure Watch
Inter are determined that he be available for their match against Cagliari on Saturday, which indicates that we're close on agreeing the finer points of how much they're going to pay. Hopefully this isn't hijacked by our risking him getting injured by playing him or our manager mouthing off about the Inter hierarchy

    Again...
He's on £300k at PSG, which is 50% more than our current top earners

Gee, I wonder what possible issues could come from a short-term option earning considerably more than the likes of Kane or Son?

His next contract won't be getting him that amount and he knows it. Atletico have offered PSG £8 mill, meanwhile

Tottenham could pursue a move for Leicester City and Algeria striker Islam Slimani, 31, who is currently on loan at Monaco. (Telegraph)

Levy needs to replace the 'To Dare is To Do' phrase with something else...it's outdated

Have PSG accepted the £8m offer? No
Have Cavani accepted a wage cut? No

As for Slimani, let me point out something that the papers haven't considered: he's on loan at Monaco for the season, and has averaged a goal every other game, so something tells me that Monaco might be resistant to the idea of Leicester recalling a player who's doing well for them just so they can loan him to us (or Villa, the other club linked) and, more than anything else, it makes no sense for Leicester to recall a player who is having a successful loan as he currently has 18 months left on his contract and his time at Monaco is increasing any potential value quite nicely

But the club really should change their motto: preferably to directions to the Etihad, since a section of the fanbase keeps comparing us with them in terms of finances and expect to be taken seriously when they do so, so perhaps they could do us all a favour and go there

Levy should change the club motto to

'To try is like to buy'

    'Attentent ad buy similis est'

    sounds pretty cool imho

    "To derp is to do"

No, wait, that's the motto for the Lunatic Fringe who think we have finances comparable to the Manc clubs or Chelsea

Nothing lunatic about suggesting signing a player of Cavani's pedigree. Let's see what wage he's on when he joins Atletico or whoever.

I would put ourselves in the same bracket as the likes of Atletico and Dortmund. We have one big advantage over them though...we are part of the richest league in the world on top of the fact that Spurs charge the 2nd highest ST prices in world football.

I've seen the very good loan deal secured for the stadium build...the annual payback is nothing to be affecting our transfer activity.

So with all that considered...you think it's a lunatic suggestion to suggest ENIC stop taking the piss and show some ambition for the first team?

Dortmund have just purchased the next big thing and if Cavani is good enough to join Atletico then he's good enough for us considering how them 2 clubs have also banked a few trophies in the last decade

You crack on with the mid table mentality whilst banging on about the big buildings and finance reports.

P.s I do appreciate your scouting reports though

Very good point. Atletico and dortmund both have considerably less finances yet they are still buying quality players

Paying a player who turns 33 next month 50% more than Kane or Son earn in a week is so lunatic that Nurse Ratched is currently browsing this forum

Putting us in the same bracket as Atleti and Dortmund betrays your point: Atleti lost Griezmann to Barca in the summer while Dortmund have lost the likes of Lewandowski, Hummels and (briefly) Gotze to Munich, all of whom have more financial muscle than they do and are more than happy to flex it to keep themselves one step ahead

Are you trying to suggest that Ndombele and Lo Celso weren't "ambitious" signings, coupled with "ambitious" fees attached?

Dortmund signed somebody with an affordable release clause, and in case you haven't noticed Cavani is still playing for PSG

Realism is not "mid-table mentality", it's understanding that we haven't activated the money cheat and need to operate within our means. That's the reason we are where we are, while Portsmouth are where they are, because failing to operate within your means has dire consequences as Leeds, Portsmouth, Sunderland etc etc are fully aware of

We pay £5m a year to Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris, both of whom are first teamers
Chelsea pay £5m a year to Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley, both of whom were signed solely to prevent other clubs signing them

So no, we do not have comparable finances

Just because chelsea waste money and spend it on crap doesnt mean you have less money because you do not do the same.

You had a bigger turnover and more profit last year so you are now financially more powerful than chelsea.

Whether you want to spend is another matter but its not the finances that are holding you back

My only concern with Cavani this season would be that he’s picked up four injuries already.

The very last thing we wanna do is bring in someone potentially prone to injury now in their older years to cover for someone already injured.

Meanwhile Ollie Watkins continues to smash it with Brentford, is young, English, been playing as a ST this season but can fill in the three spots behind, lives round the corner... I mean for **** sake he screams “Tottenham bread and butter signing”.
