Comfortable win for Joshua. But I wasn’t blown away by his performance. Ruiz just seemed happy to come for another big pay day.
Joshua did exactly what he needed to do. Barely gave Ruiz a sniff. Stayed on the outside, moved well and maintained the jab, which his opponent didn't have an answer for. Not exactly scintillating stuff, as it wasn't much of a competition, but he made it look impressively easy.
I agree he can only beat what’s in front of him - and he executed a plan to do that with ease. But his opponent was overweight and just turned up for his pay cheque. There was nothing to frighten the other best fighters in the division though. I don’t think we learned much. Certainly nothing to put him back on the pedestal he was on before he lost to Ruiz.
Glad to see Anderson and Broad back to form after injury/absence and illness respectively. Still great bowlers.
Do you think that this latest injury for Jimmy may bring the end to his international career - One of them was likely to make way for Archer in Port Elizabeth and the injury has made that decision easy though moving forward a fully fit Mark Wood may see Broad phased out too.
Possibly, but he will surely get picked for the Tests in England this year if fit. His ability in English conditions is still second to none. He looked the best bowler in South Africa too - he still has such great control. 9/179 in the two Tests. Can't see him going on any more tours though. And 2021 looks a very long way away. England have some pace now, but not sure if there are any adequate swing/seam bowlers to displace both Anderson and Broad at present. Woakes is decent, but is he good enough to be a regular new ball bowler expected to take wickets up front every time?
...so that series of Saracens matches in March aren't going to be the money-spinner we initially anticipated
Terrible news for MMA: Conor McGobshite won a bout, this time without punching an old bloke from behind in a pub, so his fanboys are running their mouths about how great he is and how he definitely didn't get mulched the one time he fought somebody good...
I can't understand the outrage at Ben Stokes' outburst of expletives today. If you were compared to Ed Sheeran........
