Shaw was excellent today. Williams also had a good game. I thought Nev called it right when he said WB looked spent after 50 minutes. That’s unacceptable.
Sorry mate, I thought he was good today. I know James is young, but he was your weakest link in attack today - no composure whatsoever. Perrara has that in spades, imo.
James is a squad player. Pereira is awful. I can recall one good goal, apart from that I’ve never seen him have a good game. He’s 24.
Pereira' big failing is that he is too selfish in the final third. Game after game he takes a wild, wasteful pop at goal when there are far better options all around him. It would be generous to say he has cost as half a dozen goals so far this season.
If you agree with DH's assessment, what you are indirectly saying is that Ole has not realized the potential of the team at his disposal. Of course, we have been better in the past few games, and even gave Liverpool a fight yesterday. But as much as a part of me wants to see Ole succeed perhaps with more time, there is casualness about him which translates to the team negatively. This statement is somewhat unfair. Does everyone even remember that Borussia Dortmund were almost relegated before Klopp finally left? Does that diminish what Klopp achieved with them? I don't think so. Same with Poch. His record shows that his teams have generally overachieved. But with us right now, we are massively underachieving with our vast resources. This is why I firmly believe that Poch would be a massive upgrade from Ole. As much as we want to sit here and think that somehow things will get better, evidence thus far suggests that we are stuck in mediocrity for the foreseeable future unless we make material changes across the club. Ideally, first get rid of Woodward. Get in someone that can instrument better transfer strategy. Then get a manager that can make players punch above their weight.
I will ask the question again, how long would you give the new man? Remember, so far we have had a very experienced PL manager and two proven top class winners, who next.
Yes, we have had all those managers but we also have not been this inconsistent with results along with complete lack of hope. I don't think throwing time at a manager after months of regression does not give him better chance of success in the future to come. If anything, he will now get more desperate which will have a negative effect on the team. We have already lost Rashford due to a level of desperation that led to the horrible decision to play him against Wolves. Ole is simply not good enough as a manager to bring success to the club. We have to be honest with ourselves and stop romanticizing the idea of thinking that "success will come".
Love the way the papers and TV seem to think we are being slow in signing one of these many world class strikers that they seem to think are sitting on their arses on the bench waiting for us to come calling. There isn't a striker worth having that we could buy at this point in the season - who would come, who would want to come knowing that they would play second fiddle to Rashford once he's fit again.
Danny Ings would be a good option at centre forward. Not the same type of player to Rashford by any means.
I was hoping we would have a shot at Haarland but I disdain his Agent. Fernandes; we need someone like him, especially in absence of Pogba. And a right winger that is able to provide decent delivery into the box. We are very short on dangerous crosses into the penalty area that strikers can feed off. If January window closes without new signings, we can kiss fourth place goodbye.
Younger than Larsson and Ibra were when they came in to do a job. Younger than Gary Mc was when he signed for Liverpool
Agree... and that right there is another problem. 10-15 years ago you'd have had experienced heads around him on the pitch, on the training ground who had proved themselves over the previous 15 years guiding him. The likes of Scholes, Giggs... Quinton Fortune How many of our current young talented players have lost that advantage we used to have. I see it with Martial, Lingard and Rashford, who do they have around them to guide them, to shape their experience and decision making and little changes to make them grow as players?
The Mail has reported that Gareth Southgate is on of the leading contenders to replace Ole Gunner Solsjaek. I've mentioned before that I see Gareth as a good candidate with his good level of equinimity to deal with the demands and inspiring the players to punch above their weight while commanding their full respect. He's also British which is a huge plus as we continue to build with home talents.
Or just leave it like is is and see how it goes since we are building with home talents? Are Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs supporters as fickle as some of us
No need to worry, United hammering the mighty Tranmere Rovers 6-0 so all is good. Even Sir Phil Jones has scored which I'm sure will lead to a candle-lit dinner with Ed and another well deserved contract extension for him.
Over in Portugal, various newspapers are reporting that a United official met Sporting president Frederico Varandas on Saturday to discuss an improved offer for Bruno Fernandes. According to A Bola report that United have increased their offer to €55m plus €5m in ‘objectives’ and another €10m in bonuses. O Jogo report the same figures, saying a big step has been made in negotiations and there is now ‘increased confidence’ between United and Sporting that a deal can be done. http://sportwitness.co.uk/bruno-fer...portuguese-latest-manchester-united-transfer/
