I just wonder if maybe we shouldn't put a cheeky bid in for Salah if he cannot get into the first team for a game against the Shrews
True. It's also a very short career and loss of form and injury can make it unpredictable. Can't really blame a young player for taking a contract worth millions in the premier league. They could pick up a serious injury next week and never be the same again.
I wouldn't like to guess which of these 2 will go the "farest". They are both great talents and great to watch, but for the last month at least it has been BOS who has been really taking hold of and influencing games, as he did when he came on yesterday. Eze hasn't looked at his best for the last couple of months or so to me, maybe he needs more rest.
He certainly hasn't I agree. Possibly due to being played anywhere but 10 and being linked with a move away. He's young and these things are bound to effect him. I think they'd both benefit from another season with us.
I rate both extremely highly, and it's a nice debate to have as to which is better, after many years of relying on one decent player - be it Taarabt, Austin or Freeman. I'd tend to agree that at the moment Eze is the better player, but I see greater potential in BOS. That's partly because of his incredible pace, which is such a big part of the modern game, particularly in the premier league. I think part of the reason Freeman hasn't made much of an impact at SHU is down to his (relative lack of) pace, for example. The other element, for me, is how rapidly (if you'll excuse the pun) BOS has progressed in the last 18 months. Clearly Eze has also progressed really well in that time, and perhaps from a higher starting point, but I feel that BOS has gone from 'no end product' to 'creates fear for every championship wing back' in that time. If that continues then I really can see him playing for a decent PL side before long. No doubt BOS will drop in form and Eze will finally get a run at no. 10 and I'll be eating my words, which I'll be happy to do. As I say, a nice dilemma! Whatever happens, I hope the club understand that we can't afford to sell both in the same season.
With a decent keeper and back four we would win this league with BOS, Eze and Chair. Keep them, please!
Not sure about that. The owners haven't been shy to get rid of any assets at all over the last 2 years and probably regret bitterly the delay in selling Austin which cost them approximately £8-10 million. We literally can afford to sell any.one as we are safe enough for this year - which was all we had hoped for in August. Hopefully it is felt that Warburton has done enough this year with the zero cash available to him to buy himself more time for him and therefore to have some influence over whether they stay or go although some of the comments on here in recent weeks might just lead the owners to do their annual cull, thank the man for all he has done for us but...………….blah blah blah...……. By and large we have all enjoyed the football this season but attendances have fallen substantially. It seems we 'd rather watch a team that is efficient and regularly wins 1-0 than one that entertains and infuriates in equal measure.
On the Eze and BOS form issue I would simply say this. Is it against the law for any manager to rest his best players from time to time? BOS was good at the start of the season and then lost his place due to a minor knock perhaps an issue with self-discipline and didn't feature at all for 8-10 weeks. Since then he has been phenomenal. Do we really need Eze to start every game and play at least 75 minutes when there are other options available?
That rumour has been floating for a week now Ellers. No idea why they want him as they have Grabban. But I don't entirely get Forest, selling Robinson when they could have tried to hold a player that has been a starter all season. Bristol City seem to be the strongest rumour... Can't see Wells going to Wigan. I do really wonder if this is all a bit of push just to see if we will put our hands in our pockets and actually buy him. Nakhi wants to stay, Burnley wants him gone, we want to buy. It is now just down to money...both fee and salary... We are trying to hang on so he becomes a free agent, .....but even then we have a salary cap but surely Wells knows what that is and seems willing to work within it
Get him to sign another contract Add a few clauses Good for him Good for us See how much anyone really wants him
I know you're probably right and they will sell any asset they can. However our FFP position does improve significantly once this year is out the way thankfully. And if we can sell one of BOS or Eze for the types of figures that have been thrown around (c.£15m-£20m), we would be wiping out our total losses for that financial year (£22m loss in most recent accounts). As such there would be no financial need to sell both... Of course the power is all with the players now, so we can't stop them from forcing a move. Just have to hope we reinvest wisely at that point.
