Scunny manager Paul Hurst and his assistant Chris Doig have been sacked. Another boring bastard we won't have to listen to on the way to City games.
Turned on Mudbank last night prematch and thought I'd got the Archers with some yokel holding court about football, turns it out it was the latest GY manager Holloway getting his excuses in early..
He can easily get a job as a hypnotist. I was struggling to keep my eyelids open within seconds every time he spoke on the wireless. I used to wonder if that was the problem with the teams he coached.
Wireless, LT? Wireless? A man in your position should at least have made a half-arsed attempt to join the twenty-first century by now. Unless you were listening to him on a transistor radio or some kind of crystal set. Or utilising those undersea cables that ran from Cornwall to Newfoundland and South Africa an' that. Actually undersea wires aren't wireless are they? Scrub that. And I guess a DAB radio is wireless too. Is it? They've got a cable. Are they wireless? All radios have wires don't they? Except wind up radios. They don't have wires. Or do they? Inside? **** it. I've totally confused myself here. You're probably right in what you said. Whatever that was. Sorry.
I don’t think he’ll be in any rush to manage in L2 again and not for a club that’s had 5 managers in 2 seasons. Plus the fact they don’t have a pot to piss in.
Everyone always moaned about every **** manager. Can’t say I ever paid any attention to them, their babble just went in one ear and out the other. I would auto zone out on Adkins too as my brain was already trained to ignore the prick.
Ha ha yes Ernie, given my professional background I do use the term with a large dollop of irony! My now former colleagues don't even use the word 'radio' anymore! It's now 'audio' or 'audio broadcasting'. The names for both the technology and content may change, but a Hurst interview still induces a drift into a comatose state!
when i was very young, and before we had a telly, we had a big old valve radio. it was plugged into the mains and we called it the wireless. when transistor radios that ran off batteries arrived, we called them radios. so the plug-in one was called a wireless and the non-plug-in ones weren't. though really "wireless" referred to the signal reception method rather than the power supply method. perhaps, in my mind, a wireless has valves. anyway, i like some of the old names. good luck with your confusion.
I can't help feeling Scunny owner really doesn't give managers a chance. He quickly gets rid, and the next one, for the most part, is no better. I always felt they should have stuck with Graham Alexander, he did a good job for them. As said it will be no loss as far as the listening public go, Hurst really could send you to sleep.
Did you ever leave a job and felt a great weight leaving your shoulders? I guess Hurst could be feeling this way, no matter what he mutters to the press.
Scunthorpe United can announce Russ Wilcox will take caretaker charge of the team for the away game at Crawley Town. Russ will be supported by Kevin Pressman, Lee Turnbull, Paul Musselwhite and the rest of the club backroom staff for the match this Saturday. https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2020/january/club-statement2/
ListenLis to sportstalk tonight the scunthorpe owner was on seems the relationship between him and hurst broke down but hes unable to talk about the reasons why think legal teams must be involved.
I can imagine how that could happen, Hurst doesn't seem the type to say nowt if he feels it needs to be said. Marmite sort of guy comes to mind.
