I was always quietly confident given his history in the lower divisions that playoffs were possible, trying not to get too optimistic though.

Yes, mine has. I thought he was the wrong appointment and his first few games seemed to confirm that. Happy to have been wrong about all of that. We're going in the right direction now.

Happily eating humble pie. I thought he was totally out of his depth at the start.

Always thought he was the right man, was my first choice from the moment JR got sacked.

  7. I was,and still am,prepared to give him time to do his job. I must say, that notwithstanding all the criticism of Donald, I do think he got the timing of the managerial change spot on.

Yep...hands up for me...I thought the appointment was a disaster, but fair play to the guy he has proved me and a few others wrong. Keep it going Phil.

Miles better than JR and his appalling back room staff who were totally out of their depth. But from what I have seen so far, maybe getting us out of this league will be his limit, and for now that is more than good enough to justify his appointment.

Got to say, I wasn't happy with the appointment. Credit though, he has just kept his head down and cracked on. We look like a totally different team to what we were a couple of month ago. I have actually grown to admire him.

Always prepared to back him at the start and give him time when things were going wrong. BIL is a Bradford City supporter and kept telling me he’d be OK.
Certainly a lot of the stick PP and SD got at the time of the appointment was OTT

I had no opinon as such. I just thought he would be here till the end of the season so was willing to wait and see.

I was in favour until he brought on a defender at home to Bolton while we'd failed to score ...

... at that point I thought we had another Ross.

Since then he's somehow got the players fit and playing as a team.

But his bravest move was telling McGeady to go, a few defeats after that and he'd have been persona non grata.

A manager that comes in when he isn't really wanted is on the back foot immediately. To endure the stick when the performance was dire, turn it around and sort out the dressing room, well, to me that takes character. TBF, I think that Donald could learn a lot from him, maybe he is, who knows.

My opinion is starting to change. The problem being that it’s Sunderland we’re talking about and they have a habit of kicking me right in the bollocks just when I don’t expect it. I hope he does well, not for him specifically, but if he does well that means the team are doing well.

Fair play to him that he's turned it around.

That said, at the time we were utterly atrocious so I think the criticism was warranted.

    Hoping it continues.

Supported him at the start despite nobody seemingly wanting him, thought he should go when both the football and results were dire and worse than Ross and now we're doing well I'm happy with him and give him all the credit he's due. Never booed or jeered him at the game or slated him on any social media other than this site.

    Seems reasonable to me.

I was ok with his appointment but when we were sliding down the table I thought he should go, I couldn’t see him turning it round. But we look a totally different side side now, miles better fitness and above all playing like a team committed to each other.

Originally after his first home game he was like a breath of fresh air (forget who it was against) he was actually coaching from the sidelines rather than watching his team with his hands in his pockets and mute - Jack Ross. Then I thought this isnt going well at all, but there has definately been something about him and his confidence which gives out a signal that he knows exactly what he is doing. He wasnt put off at all about the abuse he was getting and just kept going and he is proving a lot of people wrong. A lot of managers would be relying on Mcgeady to go and win a game for them to get the fans off his back but fair play hes given out a message that theres no place for arseholes in his team so on ya way son, dont care who you are. I am impressed with his press conferences and listen to what he says, I used to turn Jack Ross off after 10 seconds, so boring and dour.

definitely... my opinion actually changed the day he seemingly sorted out the McGeady issue (whatever it was) and wasnt dicatated to by player power. My concerns were more to do with the style of play especially after witnessing that Gillingham game as I firmly believed that was down to him.
He's slowly becoming a more popular figure among the fans than I'd ever anticipated and he looks a more confident character than the person that first arrived.
Keep it up and Im sure he will be receive the accolades he deserves and I among many will be eating the pie from the Humble shop.
I'm still not sure if we have the squad to push us into the top two places... what I would hope for however is to carry the same winning and fighting mentality into every game if we end up in the play-offs. As with nearly every poster on here, the play-offs are something we'd rather avoid
