He has 22 weeks until his contract expires so £1.5m would put him on about 70k a week. and there's all those clauses and payoffs and whatever which i have no idea of how it works.

As Saint Osprey has mentioned, the deal is worth around £5m, that for me is a good deal. His attitude was good but if we had said no to the arsenal move, I doubt it would have been.

I liked Cedric as a person, his attitude was good at all times, he didn't get too big for his boots after winning the Euros and always put a shift in, is a decent enough fullback but 100% replaceable by either a youngster like Valery/KWP or JWP filling in, or even Yoshi getting some game time. Best of luck Cedric, thanks for your efforts.

Yeah maybe but he ain’t gonna be able to play 2x games in 5 days but we are, where we are. Can’t see it turning out good tho. If I were Klippy or the Special Moaner, I’d be looking at our RHS very carefully.

Yeah, and I think that's the strongest reason for letting him go. He's a player that to me, has over the years improved as a player to some degree and always kept his head down. He took way too much crap for saying that he was not going to re-sign for Saints when no one expected him to re-sign and we did not have that much interest in re-signing him. His full quote was something like "I will be leaving after the year, but while I'm here I'm only thinking of helping the team." He was just acknowledging the foregone conclusion and trying to reassure the fans. Which to me is exactly what you'd expect a player to say.

Most of us felt like we were a bit short at fullback even before Cedric got hurt. So one in and one out doesn't really address the problem of squad depth. And no, Cedric's not a great player, but he was an okay squad guy so our team is just a little thinner with him gone.

But on the other hand, you have a player who it seems is unlikely to play that much for us, and has a chance to move to a higher profile club, possibly play a little more, and put himself in the shop window. Hasenhuttl clearly doesn't rate him all that highly, and that's his call. We're getting a small amount of profit from it, so it seems like a win-win in some ways. Of course he would want to go, and be disappointed if he weren't. Treating your players right when you have an opportunity to do so is good for generating good will and that might be worth more than the risk of being a bit short at fullback for half a season.

We shouldn't be sweating over 3.5m, but in this case there are other valid reasons for letting him go. I buy those reasons so I'm not criticizing the move, it just makes me a little nervous that maybe we are sweating over 3.5m.

I see this as important too - for the current squad and for future ins.

Good luck cedric, he's a likable fella and worked hard for the team. Don't think we can begrudge a move especially if he had been contacted before.. Worked hard to the end..

Pretty obvious, but depends on value. I'd be surprised if we wanted to pay much more than £10m.

In today’s market £10m is a mere snip in the premier league.

About £16m. I guess he was only back up also, but Targett was much more experienced than KWP.

Has he got 2 years left on his deal at spurs?

Yeah you're probably correct, maybe £25m, my only rationale is he barely played, zero experience.

I'd like to get him but I wouldn't want to be bent over a barrel by Levy for him.

He has been like a bit of the jigsaw we have missed since Nat Clyne left, would be a shame to miss out on him for the sake of a few million.

Always thinking about yourself mate, instead of taking one from Levy for the team. I bet he'd go in dry aswell <yikes>

We've got lots of areas to improve though so if Levy was to want something stupid like £25m then I'd expect us to walk away.
