... turns down a move to a club where he'll be playing. He sees himself as too good for L2 despite not being good enough for L1. The article claims Sunderland don't want to sell him to a L1 rival ... ... do it I say, we shouldn't have any sympathy for other clubs in our league. ”Ambitious Salford were keen to sign the 28-year-old as they push for a play-off spot." https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51298423
Just said this on another post. His wages shouldn't be affected so why would you not want to go somewhere with pretty much guaranteed football? As a slightly separate issue what has happened with our centre half who went to Salford?
As it stands, he can play this goal drought off as a 'Sunderland problem' and some manager in L1 or even higher will buy it. If he goes to L2 that is potentially where his next full time contract is. He won't go below this, it basically halves his potential earnings after us.
did Northern Ireland qualify for the euros I can’t remember? Edit : just checked they have a playoff against Bosnia - even more fool him
I've got a sneaky feeling that Parkinson might give him a few starts between now and the end of the season alongside Lafferty. Lafferty is much better suited to playing the support role to a poacher than Wyke ever will be so I think Grigg may well get another chance to prove his worth. Judging by the Doncaster game we run the risk of becoming a bit predictable so I wouldn't mind parky trying this out at all.
This thread a joke? How can you have a go at the lad for thinking he can do a job above league 2? Aye he's not done the business for us (a team with zero pace and creativity outwide for much of his stay) but to crucify him for not dropping to the lowest level of professional football in the country is pure scapegoatism.
I thought that he might do better under PP. With more emphasis on getting balls into the box he should be able to score a few. I'm hoping to be surprised between now and promotion in May.
Dont see how anyone can compare the two. One wants to play for us but is ****. The other refused to play and feigned injury, running to the press like a little bitch.
Grigg doesn't show any interest when he's on the pitch, doesn't work hard enough and is feigning a virus imo ... ... I've no doubt we'll see a 'my Sunderland hell' article once he's finally left. Two peas in a pod I'd say.
Given donald is a mof (massive oxford fan) maybe he will contrive a deal whereby he let's them have grigg for next to nowt. Why should he care about any loss on the player? Paid for with other peoples money and he wants out anyway.
This post a joke? Where did I crucify him ... ... here's a clue, I haven't. He's available and the only two clubs interested are League 2 ... .... why aren't other clubs interested?
i could tolerate Grigg if he showed any effort at all on the pitch, but any ball outside a 2metre radius of him is just disregarded, no desire, no fight, no heart.
It's a basic isn't it. When I played Sunday League i used to keep better players out through sheer effort ... ... I'd still be sweating by the time we got to the pub Grigg comes off looking like he can just slip his clothes on and go out for a meal.
