perfect1.jpg Good Morning. It's Monday 3rd February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Groundhog day again, and again

Leeds Manager Marcelo Bielsa received damning criticism from the Leeds Utd faithful at the weekend as the Whites slipped from the top pirch to within just three points of the play offs.

As dominant as ever, the Whites were attacking the Wigan goal at will, but a series of blocks, fine saves and the woodwork once again came to the visitors rescue.

Only only goal of the game came on the hour mark, and as unlikely as the game unfolded, it was the Latics that would collect all three points.

An inswinging corner took a glancing diversion of Hernandez's head and looped nearly 25 yards over a static Casilla and in to the back of the net.

To see the opposition score from their first shot on target, via a set piece is what has come to be expected if you're a Leeds fan - we see it week in - week out; its not a surprise anymore!

41 Leeds crosses - only 11 found a Leeds player!

Should Casilla have done better - of course.

Could Leeds defenders have done more to protect Casilla - 100%

Unfortunately for Leeds, Bielsa decided that 20m rated striker Augustin was not ready for the Championship, and with limited fire power and confidence in front of goal shrinking by the minute Wigan held on for the three points.

    Bielsa's Post Match Press Conference

    Has Bielsa became a liability?

I'm sure there is not a Leeds fan on the planet that does not have a soft spot for Bielsa, but has the honeymoon period for the Argentine come to an end at Elland Road.

Saturdays home defeat against relegation threatened Wigan has seen a 10 point gap between Promotion and play off places dwindle within just points, yet nothing has changed from the the veterans point of view.

How long can Bielsa continue to pick the same starting XI, and same tactics week in, week out?

What kind of advantage is this giving Leeds opposition?

Are you fed up of Bielsa blaming himself? He is supposed to be a Superior Manager compared to the rest of the Championship!

The chosen one has claimed that new signing signing Augustin 'needs to get up to speed with how Leeds play and he doesn't want to expose him to the Championship'. The French International has trained four times with the Leeds squad since his move from over the Channel!

If you were to ask any Professional footballer from any league up to National League status how you want them to play, and give them four days training, you'd expect that player to fill that gap quite comfortably.

If that player was experienced and had a superior pedigree, you'd expect that same player to be able not just to fill the gap, but to make a difference, especially when the current team are having so many problems in front of goal - so why wasn't Augustin at least on the bench?

    Morning All

Like i said on the match day thread, Mr Stubborn is really starting to annoy me now. We need a finisher, and Bamford isnt that person. We have signed a 20M player, and he cannot go on to play in just a Championship game? Why not give him a go and see how he fares without the stupid 'bed in' period to learn Bielsa ball? ffs..

If there is one thing we are good at is being consistent at being inconsistent.

He's not even tried playing Poveda yet, but at least he got a place on the bench.

The stat of crosses you mention is an astounding statistic. Is that because we have a lack of height in the squad? Most likely..

Next up is Forest away. Unless something drastic changes, I cant see us winning this one. He'll pick same squad, same tactics, De Ja Vu all the time now..

You still spouting this pish, Ell? Perhaps you didn't read my reply the last time you posted it. It clearly answered the questions you asked, yet you persist with this mindless rant. Perhaps if you had to actually go see us play instead of relying on second hand views - many who rarely see games in the flesh, if at all.

And it's that deja vu that got us to an auto spot. Didn't gear you complaining then.

    Morning all...

I spent far too long debating issues on the match day thread yesterday. Your second paragraph sums it up for me Ell...

As dominant as ever, the Whites were attacking the Wigan goal at will, but a series of blocks, fine saves and the woodwork once again came to the visitors rescue.

Am I concerned we’re not converting chances? Definitely. Would I like Casilla to be dropped? Yes. Do I think Bielsa will play Augustin within the next two games. Yes.

If we were playing poor I’d be concerned, we’re playing great, we’re creating chances, we’re limiting teams to very few of chances a game and we have options.

Last year we were savaged by injuries, we have Phillips one game away from a return, Berardi, Roberts and Shackleton are all on the bench again, we have a good Keeper in Meslier, Poveda and Augustin chomping at the bit, we’re in a better position despite being 2 points down as we have the squad and players this time round...

If Bielsa does not play the new guys and we fail to go up, I’d like a huge question answering before condemning Bielsa, why or did Bielsa really sanction the signings and what went on between Bielsa and Orta regarding them.

I believe a Bielsa wanted them, I think they’ll feature soon, I believe we’ll still get promoted.

Some seem to believe we have an automatic right to promotion, we haven’t. Player for player we haven’t even the best squad in the division. At the end of the season only Phillips and White have a chance of making team of the season.

We are where we are and not mid table because of Bielsa, without him these players wouldn’t be top 6 so let’s cut him some slack and trust his judgement

Morning all. On a slightly different issue, I am amazed at a bit of a new age type view on social media claiming the important thing is style of play and winning games is somehow only secondary. Revie of Shankley wouldn't agree with that . What Im curious about is when this new mindset got introduced into football. In my books the result is always paramount, if we can do it with style, so much the better. If the way forward is to no longer care about winning or seemingly care in some cases, we might as well spend our time at the cinema

Morning All, JKA will probably come on as a sub against the florists and Poveda could be given a start, maybe at the expense of Pablo?, who could then come on as a sub in the second half I don't think that Kiko has been without fault in the recent goals, name me a goalkeeper who is perfect, and I would like to see Meslier given a start, just in case Kiko isn't going to be available. Illan played well against the gooners but a championship game is a bit more rough and tumble and so I would like to see how he goes.

I was complaining, as teams were starting to suss us out. I wasn't complaining on here as only joined a few weeks ago. The fact of the matter is, if we dont capitalise on our domination of teams by converting our chances, then we will continue dropping down the league and fail at the last hurdle again. I'm really wanting us to turn this around, and hoping that starting Augustin sooner than later will be the catalyst of it.

As Ristac mentioned in his post today, we were savaged by injuries last year, this time we are not. Thats a good point to make. Maybe this will also be a plus point of a commanding turn around in form.

I know that <doh> Just thought American football might have been big in Aussie that's all. I much prefer the Australian rules as a spectacle to American sport of any kind. Usually some decent battles when the Aussie rules play our Gaa lot

    Morning DJ

We are always outnumbered in the box.

We have to have a tactic where we can play with two front men.

I'd say 5-3-2 with Dallas and Ayling as wing backs

Re first point, I was out and didn't see the game. Did we play great? We dominated the stats as usual but were we carving them open like the second half against millwall? I ask as plenty of opinion suggests that we huffed and puffed without showing much guile or good football.

Re second point. Angus Kinnear last September:
    https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co...an-win-promotion-says-md-angus-kinnear-629928

There is a direct correlation between salaries and performance, apparently - we were mid table paying average money, but now we pay top dollar because we have top players appropriate for a table topping side. Angus is a straight talker so it must be true. And if we don't get promoted with these salaries then clearly it must be the manager's fault

    Yer cheeky git.

You wanna go one on one with the great one!!! <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Believe me, if I lived closer, and had the time / finances I would absolutely love to. Unfortunately, as I don't my way of contributing to Leeds is via the forum(s).

Nobody remembers the team or Manager that nearly made it, and unfortunately that is the category that I have to put Bielsa in atm.

The lack of rotation will lead to burnout or injuries

The opposition gain such an advantage over us knowing how we are going to play, who will be playing and not addressing of defensive frailties that they might as well have a goal advantage before the game starts.

Sure, I can only comment on what I see on the screen as opposed to going to games but its plain to see that Bielsa is NOT learning by his mistakes.

I thought huffed and puffed. Just didn't feel like we were going to score. Against Millwall after we scored our first, I expected us to win

    Morning ristac,

I agree with that you're saying but it happens week in, week out. We dominate games, hit the woodwork, fine saves and blocks etc, but the opposition will score if they have a shot on target.

We've been found out. We need to change things, but thats the scary part - Bielsa won't.
