In my opinion it's not that you question things that's the issue, it's that you keep banging on about things even when others have explained to you why they feel differently to what you are saying. To me a message board is there for all to have an opinion and everyone's opinoion should be respected. That repectability gets lost when a poster is unable to appreciate where someone else may be coming from. I genuinely read your posts and consider them as i prefer to think of things from all angles but a little bit of constructive criticism never hurt anyone so here goes... You seem to have a bee in your bonnet in regards to things that Smug posts and you come across as if you're happiest when you think that you've proven someone wrong (take your previous posts re GOM as an example). Life isn't about one upmanship and message boards certainly aren't either. Perhaps it may be worthwhile taking a step back and look at the way in which you post, think about what you say and see if there is anything you can do to change others perceptions of you.
If our owner said it's raining outside I'd need to go out and check for myself. All Smug is doing is relaying info' he has been told and shown. If you don't believe him fair enough but the incessant need to try and prove him wrong and using Donald (who has changed his tone a number of times) as a stick to try and beat him with seems unneeded, dull and bizarre in equal measures.
I appreciate what you're saying, even though I disagree. I'm not happiest proving people wrong, I'm happiest talking about SAFC and using facts. I don't give a **** if Smug is right, in fact I genuinely hope he is and we get FPP. But I am too often told that I'm at fault for daring to speak 'out of turn' ie: disagree with rumours and back that up. Smug, Owld Feller, Roppa, One Gary Owers, various others have really not talked to me in good faith, they've made a decision that they don't like me and stuck with it. My interaction with GOM was more exasperation because I was pilloried for my take on the finances by people because I disagreed with him. To see him say the same things I was saying back in July (when he said I was wrong) is hard to just pass without comment. Which btw I didn't bring up here.
Various others have really not talked to me in good faith, they've made a decision that they don't like me and stuck with it. That demonstrates, perfectly, his paranoia.
The flak seems to come from a tiny number of boring, negative gits who won't believe anything on principle and post incessantly. The majority, I believe, appreciate what you post and can accept that it's in good faith but won't always pan out. I do believe that a better response to your more obsessive critics would be a simple "Yeah, whatever."
In all seriousness, do these things not make you sometimes step back and wonder why ... ... surely it can't always be other people's fault. I've learned, the hard way, that nothing stops the most relentless hair splitters mate, no matter what's said by me or anyone else. If I defend what I've said I'm subjected to a forensic interrogation and am asked for irrefutable proof which I obviously can't, or choose not to, provide. There may well be a deal in place, as I type, but not even the most well respected journalist would be believed until there's a club announcement. The journalist, in the OP, isn't believed so what chance have I? However, if I post 'whatever' the attacks actually increase and I'm accused of hiding or admitting I'm making things up. I've been called a liar so many times it's ridiculous. If I don't post at all two or more people will take the opportunity to pull me to pieces like dogs with a rabbit. I post what I'm told by very good contacts, involved in one way or another, yet people refute what I say without any evidence of their own, but think they're right. I don't see why I should, for the sake of avoiding stalkers and trolls, allow myself to be chased off the board ... ... I'd suggest they should look at my posts and think 'whatever', quite easy really. However, to test your theory, and because I don't want to annoy anyone, I won't mention this again.
****'em all Smug, As an exile i appreciate anything that anyone says about the future of our club, makes me feel a little more like i'm there. We get **** all news here in Aus in regards to league 1 so it's streams, the odd sky match and the message boards that keep us informed. Don't let the naysayers win is what i say. Some people are glass half full, others are glass half empty. I'm the type that if theglass is half empty i'll ask the barman to fill it up again.
Seems to me that some have thinner skins than we thought. It's a message board. Some divulge what they believe is true. Others show disdain to these divulgences. Just as others offer opinions on football, cinema, etc etc. Some agree with the opinions others virulently disagree. It seems to me that there is a tendency to gang up on these that dont follow the 'party line' and then the insults start getting thrown about followed by a tsunami of pettiness and in some instances attempts at character assassination. Social media very own lord of the flies almost
So what's happening lads seems to be turning into arguments and dont reading pages of it. What you reckon @Smug in Boots is this Bloom thing Donald trying his last shot of getting money? I thought FPP have final say anyway so he couldnt sell without their permission?
keep up your good work sir, it is appreciated by most of us supporters. don't let the troglodytes get you down.
Just because we have different opinions there is no need to resort to personal abuse. I don’t post much at all but do like to see what other people’s thoughts are about our club. I appreciate the snippets of information that are posted and it’s up to the individual how much credence they give it. Keep it coming Smug
Have some mad, but brilliant, music instead of a like (McCartney eat your heart out & 'Get back to where you once belonged')
fwiw, I just skip past @Kittenmittons posts, mostly because I know they're going to be a) re-hashed arguments from days/weeks/months before, b) barely disguised attacks on certain posters, c) dull in the extreme or d) any combination of a/b/c. Which is not to say I have anything against him, he's just best avoided/ignored imo. no offence intended.
Thanks for the support. There are 3 entirely different things with which I try to distinguish. 1) Facts, as I've been told by people I trust. 2) Opinions, based on info I've received or public knowledge. 3) Guesswork, based on hunches just as we all have. Category 1 is when I post things like Ross and McGeady being sacked off in advance of the media, etc. That came from a player in the first team squad who's a friend of someone I stood on the Fulwell with for over a decade Also when I posted about a new company being created by the Americans which came from an ex/future-employer and million/billionaire. I posted, weeks before any media, that Ashley would kick Staveley into touch and that Dell had tried to buy Newcastle. In the case of the Stavely thing it was at the time of 'the curry house' when she came out punching the air and everyone assumed it was a done deal. I posted a month before Ashley made his 'do one' statement. The rest are open to question because I have no way of knowing for sure if the information is correct. Obviously, as has been said, goalposts are moved so it can be said I was lying or whatever. As far as the timing of the FPP takeover is concerned I was no more wrong than the BBC, fanzines, local media or even Jack Ross who blithely said he'd been introduced to the new owners. I now know why it stalled and pm'd someone on here so there's a record of what happened. I've been sworn to silence, on this, but it doesn't matter because anyone could call BS if I post it. If I post and it's never officially revealed, which might be the case due to nda's, that would go down as another Smug lie to add to the list. I can't win but, happily, I don't give a monkey's because that's of no interest to me. All I try to do is sift the info and post what I choose in an entertaining way. I think that, because I try to make it humorous and upbeat, it irritates people who are intense and pessimistic. Who knows mate, it's just a little chat forum ... ... not the Old Bailey
actually as mentioned over the road, smug offered a £1000 bet that they would takeover. That's a bit more than being "smug" and I doubt anyone with an ounce of intelligence or decorum would do that, if they hadn't been given solid information.
