    Just wondered? I’m into my running. Not silly fast but around 8 minutes per mile up to 8 miles. Love my running and just entered the Blaydon Race! So I’ll be doing that thing that the mags are all ganning along scotswood road to see!!!!

    Retired I'll health from the mining industry age 46 started running for recreation now 67 and still really enjoying my 3 days a week, out and around Wakefield, lovely countryside and some lakes with wildlife. Do about 8k in 55ish minutes so no rush just steady away. Completed 4 10k runs in Sunderland all about the 60 minute mark, find just letting your mind wander and listening to Spotify is extremely relaxing. Considering some 10k's around the country this year using them as a weekend break for myself and the better half if you have any suggestions.

    I'm not a runner myself but a workmate of mine does Triathlons. Goes out on Sunday mornings around Roker/Seaburn.Always on lookout for more members. Try his link below. All levels and no pressure on anyone.

    I used to be a pretty good sprinter and up to 800 meters. Struggled after that.

    I’d love to have a go at a triathlon mind! But open water swimming scares the hell out of me. I can run and bike no problem. I’m a decent enough swimmer (slow but steady) but I struggle in open water. Been training tonight with my running club! Uphill work which is great! Hate it and love it in equal measure

    Triathlon is great. I’ve done the lot all the way from Enticer to Ironman. So yes, I’m a bit of a runner, although I prefer cycling.

    Suffering from Plantars for the second time, this has lasted 12 months but I'm slowly getting on top of it.
    Tried all sorts but it's literally a pain in the 'feet'
    stopped my jogging and walking football but hope to get back into it in the Spring.

    The one in my left foot I can usually manage with stretching, (loads of good youtube videos about it) the one on my right heel is more intractable, it my be a calf problem according to my physio.

    I used to just about control my weight by jogging... now I cannot jog without triggering the PF. Playing too many games of golf in a row means I revert to a buggy...

    One golf buddy who is a retired bones surgeon ( worked at Sunderland as well) reckons the Op you can have is not very good. I presume that is why Jordan Henderson has not had it done...I know he suffers from PF as well.

    Was a fair runner at school, 440 yards upwards.

    WHEN I joined the RAF I discovered a moderate talent, (compared to my colleagues), and ended up doing cross country in the winter, when the rugby wasn't on, and Athletics in the summer.
    From 800 mtrs up to 10k but 'specialising' in the 3000 steeplechase.

    I stopped it all when I left to get a proper job but about ten years later Brendan came up with the GNR and I got hooked again.
    I did most them from the second year onwards, about 20 in all plus other local events. On average say five a year.
    Holidays in The Highlands often included an entry into the local Highland Games, Inverness to Drumnadrochit, about 16 miles.

    Then I had knee trouble and was told to behave myself.

    I now have two metal hips and one replaced knee, all due to arthritis.
    My Doctor put it down to the running but had no answer when I asked about the arthritis in my hands.
    (I assured him I'd NEVER done a half marathon on my hands).
    So for me the jury is out.
    I do though continue to have a steady low (ish) pulse, about 66 on average and apparently my ticker is in good nick.
    So in many respects I consider that the running, (and now my visits to the gym), have been overall, beneficial.
    Had I known that the arthritis was going to strike anyhow, I'd have done more, not less.

    The only downside is that I miss it now that I can't do it.<wah>

    Would cycling be any good for you mate, loads less stress on the joints and still working your heart and leg muscles.

    I’m still in the process of building miles up after knee surgery in November. I stopped playing football(11 a side) at 50 year old due to a knee fracture then they found the meniscus tear which is what the operation was for. I’m only up to 2.5 mile but enjoying it again. It’s been a **** time to start again with the bad weather but better than doing nowt.
