He will most likely go back to be under the guidance of Liverpool's medical team, but we will still have to pay the wages for the duration of the deal
His best game was his first, against Rotherham, he was swamped in subsequent games. Suggests his level in League 1.
I'm not sure his heart was in a move to us. He just never struck me as being committed - even before the injury crisis/series of losses. I've become a broken record on this but I can't understand why Batty isn't one of the names down on the team list, especially when we need to battle our way through this part of the season.
At times I would agree. However, if he's given a run of games and builds confidence and a working understanding with his team mates/supported by McCann, then this is an aspect of his game that could become more consistent. At this moment no one is breaking up play in the midfield and let's face it McCann has been happy to persevere with Honeyman who has little end product - albeit in a different midfield position.
I didn't rate Kane on what I saw but then again Honeyman is now in the starting 11 which shows how bad we are
Irvine gets booked at least every other game doesn't he? Mainly because he's out of position or trying something stupid.
Looking back at our last 5 league losses: - 2 yellows against Blackburn, - 0 against Brentford, Huddersfield or Derby - 1 against Fulham. I mean, i'm not expecting us to go out there and kick **** out of opposition teams, but it speaks of a lack of tactical fouling, a lack of bite and a lack of pressing that we've picked up so few yellows in those losses, and in games you're losing those are qualities that you should absolutely be demonstrating.
Hull City defenders Matthew Pennington and Ryan Tafazolli will come back into contention for tomorrow’s visit of Swansea City to hand head coach Grant McCann a much-needed injury boost. Pennington, who has missed the last five games with a groin injury, and Tafazolli, an absentee in the last week with a hip problem, have both trained fully today and, barring any complications, should be ready to feature against the Swans. City are still set to be without 10 injured players as they bid to end a run of six league games without a win but McCann finally had good news to deliver on the eve of hosting Swansea. “He has a full week's training now,” said McCann on Pennington’s progress. “Leading into the Blackburn game he’d trained once so it was a big risk, really. “He definitely comes into my thinking. Taff trained today and it was his first day back, but with Tafazolli, he has not been out too long and only missed possibly about eight to ten days. Again, he will come into my thinking.” If Tafazolli and Pennington are able to provide a lift for tomorrow night, next weekend’s trip to Preston North End could see another trio of players returning. Jordy de Wijs, Reece Burke and Martin Samuelsen are all scheduled to resume full training on Monday along with Angus MacDonald, who ahead of Christmas was given the news he had successfully beaten bowel cancer. MacDonald, along with Jon Toral and Kevin Stewart, will be targeting a return in the weeks that follow. “It looked a bit better on the training ground today,” said McCann. “We had 21 players out there, which was nice. “We had Kevin Stewart back, Tafazolli back, Pennington back. Obviously Jon Toral has trained a few days now as well so it’s looking a bit better on the injury front. “Hopefully by next week we’ll have De Wijs, Burke, Samuelsen, Angus MacDonald, all coming back Monday.”
"If Tafazolli and Pennington are able to provide a lift for tomorrow night, next weekend’s trip to Preston North End could see another trio of players returning" Does that mean it'll be one of their turns to give Taf & Penno a lift?
Rumours Stewart will be back too, if so penno and Stewart straight in the team at rb and cm, Mcloughlin for me done enough to keep taff out in the left sided cb position. I'd rest/drop honeyman and Irvine from cm to accommodate those returns and Leo back to cm
Stewart doesn’t sound like he’s in contention based on today’s press conference. Toral’s playing for the U23’s next week.
IF McCann is sticking to his 4-2-3-1/4-3-3, id like to see.. ___________Long Penn McKenzie McLoughlin Elder ______Stewart Lopes Maddison__Honeyman__Wilks ___________KLP Young back 4 needs protection from 2 defensive midfielders imo, As we're short of wingers id keep Maddison out wide, otherwise id have him behind the striker.. With Eaves & Magennis both crap, id give KLP a run of games and see what he can do.
Lad from Scotland's injury came from him stepping backwards and and tripping over the little bit of metal they keep the little disc cones on that a youth team lad had put down while he went to collect balls up! Just our luck this season
