No such thing as a 'six-pointer' ...

Anything can happen, win lose or draw this is going to be a cliff hanger and no surprise at all if it boils down to the last game for half a dozen clubs. Hopefully we are amongst the top 3, come the final whistle. <ok>

    Here’s hoping mate.
I’m still worried about us keeping Maguire and Gooch fit and firing on all cylinders for the rest of the season.
The cupboard is bare if that doesn’t happen.

Although I do not think Semanyo will score many I believe he will create enough regardless of who is on the pitch. Obviously hope that Gucchi n maguire keep their form though.

Best to just take one game at a time IMHO. If only Parky had been here pre-season. Never thought I would have said that.

I like many others wasnt impressed in the slightest when Parkinson BUT i think he has shown strength and a massive pair of bollocks to get rid of Mcgeady especially as he probably knew if it went wrong he was signing his own death warrant here.

Things have turned around and I still think theres a lot more to come from this team - if we can get the forwards scoring regularly we might have cracked this league.

fingers crossed we keep things going

In away games like today I'd be happy to see Watmore and Semenyo start the game, run defenders ragged then bring Gooch and Maguire on ....

... won't happen of course, it'll be the same line up as usual.

Saturday has Fleetwood v Portsmouth and Ipswich v Oxford.

Tuesday has Coventry v Rotherham and Sunderland v Fleetwood.

Two Sunderland wins and draws in the other games would make a massive difference.

Whatever happens, as we've seen, if we keep winning it's a certainty we'll catch up points on the teams around us ...

... they can't both win if they're playing each other.

I don't even believe we've clicked yet tbh.

Parkinson, in my opinion, is being cautious, and holding back Semenyo, Watmore, Lafferty and even Grigg.

I keep getting flashes, in my heed, of Grigg celebrating the winning goal at Rotherham that clinches the title.

During the last 3rd division campaign my hero was John McPhail who was just a typical lower league plodder.

But he rose to the occasion and was my Beckenbauer ....

... unlikely heroes, just like SKP.

According to the below link (and screenshot attached from the article) FiveThirtyEight have done some calculations and have the league finishing with us 3rd, and gaining another 25 points out of a possible 39 is it? What I don't understand, is how we do actually finish 3rd, on the same points as Coventry BUT with a BETTER goal difference <doh> FWIW I honestly can't see us dropping 14 points, I would add another 5 on minimum and put us on 84, dropping 9 points for the rest of the season.

I did this last week on RTG before our Tranmere game but here's an updated version after 2 more games.

You can see that we now have 4 games against the other 9 top teams around us (tho Oxford now 11th). We've 2 at home to Peterbro and Fleetwood and 2 away to Coventry and Rotherham (last game of season) so therefore 9 games against teams 11th or below. I see Coventry still have the 5 of the top teams around them to play against at home so possibly not the favourites for promotion some think they are. Also Portsmouth have 5 away games so again possibly a harder ask. Ipswich have it canny with 4 games but not all top 5 teams but they've got a poor home record this season.

    Peterbro 3 (1/2) so 8 against others
    Sunderland 4 (2/2) so 9 against others
    Doncaster 4 (2/2) so 9 against others
    Wycombe 5 (3/2) so 9 against others
    Ipswich 5 (4/1) so 7 against others
    Oxford 5 (2/3) so 9 against others
    Rotherham 6 (3/3) so 7 against others
    Coventry 7 (5/1) so 7 against others
    Portsmouth 7 (2/5) so 7 against others
    Fleetwood 7 (2/5) so 7 against others

Gillingham are now 10th as they're unbeaten since November last year as they beat us starting their run of 6 wins and 7 draws. Peterbro have just 3 games against those 9 top teams and probably why the have the lowest opponents PPG for fixtures left. This another 'meaningless' stat link regarding PPG for teams left to play and it's canny as you can hover over the PPG value and it shows you the games for that team. This image shows our games left.

if we win at Coventry i reckon we will certainly go up as champions, but this is Sunderland we have to be cautious. I thought Peterborough were the best team but they have lost 10 now, when will coventry have a bad run / hopefully starting a week on Sunday. I tell you one thing when you look back to boxing day and 15th it is very exciting now ! and huge support at home will drive us on, so get them tickets bought £20 i pay and getting mine today for the next 2 games.

We play both Coventry and Rotherham, avoid defeat and I reckon we'll go up automatically.
As Monty suggests there's been a runaway leader almost every month who've subsequently fallen away ...

... we haven't had our turn yet and we could be timing it just right.

Portsmouth have a really tough block of games, 4 of 5 against a top team, which could hurt them.

I'd hate to have to play either them or Coventry at Wembley ...

... as you're good with facts perhaps you know the 'loudmouth arsehole quotum' for each club.

Still a decent option to bring on earlier though if required.

We had a few pitch invasions the last time we were promoted at Rotherham ....

... @MrRAWhite was involved in one of them.

I'm sure we could manage another <laugh>

coventry's 5/1 stat is interesting... their league position could easily be inflated as you say
