For @Miketyson2007Junior and dad, please note the pubs we will be going in on our little crawl before the game. All in the vicinity of Kelham Island, around 1.5 miles from Hillsborough. Shakespeare's Kelham Island Tavern The Fat Cat We will then finish up in the New Barrack Tavern to join up with my Wednesday mates, if they are not on my train venturing up. After the game we will have a quick one in the New Barrack Tavern to let the crowds die down then we shall head to the Bankers Draft as they close at midnight.
The only problem with these very cheap advance tickets is that it ties you down to one specific train, which can lead to problems. Yesterday many fans had a cheap advance ticket for the 7.01 Darlington to Kings Cross, which was delayed. That was the last train back to London that night before the dreaded engineering works started. If you miss it or it’s cancelled, you are fvcked whereas with an open (admittedly much more expensive) you can catch an earlier one.
£30 to get in is a tad steep for a midweek game which is a grade Z for Wednesday fans. I have a freebie with my Wednesday mates, fortunately one of their lot cannot make it
No Championship club should be charging £30 or more to get in, but plenty of the greedy bastards do, including Stoke this Saturday. West Brom is excellent value at £20.
Bowyer may have hit on his best team. Phillips; Matthews, Lockyer, Nabster, Doughty; Pratley, Cullen, Lapslie, Oz; Bonne, Taylor. Davis if Pratley is injured, Purrington for Doughty if he wants a more defensive LB, Williams for Oz if/when he's fit, Green as an impact sub, or instead of Oz.
Line up for Wednesday (flat back 4) Phillips Doughty Sarr Lockyer Matthews Lapslie Cullen Davis Oztumer Bonne Taylor Lapslie is not a patch on Gallagher, but deserves to keep his place. Oztumer needs a run of games to prove if he is up to it. Green was poor v Luton, so let’s start with Bonne to support Taylor.
Only slight worry is that Green is our only pacey forward, Bonne is quite similar to Taylor in style of play. Hopefully Oztumer can provide the speed otherwise I'd play Green in the 10 role.
I’d go 4-4-2 at Wednesday. play Bonne & Taylor from the start up front, with McGeady or Oztumer as the No.10. Bowyer has admitted that Oshilaja doesn’t work as the holding midfielder in a diamond formation.
and that Davis doesn't work as a right sided midfielder. So it's round pegs in round holes which always gives you a chance. I think he might play Green as the no. 10 despite his poor game on saturday.
