I always watch Indy wondering if any of the drivers could make F1 and do a job. Always thought Dixon might be interesting, and Rosenquist/Ferruci have done well, but....
Thank the lord for youtube and giving extended highlights! Love this track shame it's too small for F1
Longer than Monaco. And it really is an amazing track. Would love to see current F1 cars take on the corkscrew. Glad Indy saw sense and returned!
Alonso to drive for McLaren in Indy500. Probably was the back up plan. Apparently the news that Honda blocked him at Andretti were false. More that they couldn't come to a deal. Wish he would do a full season though
I fully expected him to be doing a full season with Macca. Their driver choice is possibly a little out there with two young ones, but I'm still fuming with them for ditching Hinchcliffe, so they can jog on anyway!
Seems like Ferrari may be running a team in Indy!!!! It appears to be because the budget cap is only going to be $145 million. Reports suggest they normally spend in excess of $350 million!!! They suggest that they don't want to have to lay off a lot of staff! The cynic in me wonders if there is any crossover between F1 and Indy? i.e. could Ferrari use Indy to develop components that could be used on F1 cars? Any thoughts?
I don't think there's many parts that would cross-over, different power units, different aero, but that doesn't mean they can't bury some of their F1 R&D expenses in their Indy project.
Yeah, very little crossover. Most parts are plucked from the shelf with it mostly being a spec series. I'm not even sure they could bury that much R&D in Indy for that same reason. More likely Ferrari just rustling feathers, as they have done previously.
More than likely, although I wouldn't be surprised to see them finally enter Indy. They threatened to before, even going as far as designing and building a car to race in the 80's, although only the engine saw competitive action as an Alfa Romeo. Except for it being in the US, Ferrari going to indycar has always made sense, considering they exist to race in the biggest races. The US is their biggest market and Indycar is getting a bit more exposure worldwide (although Pagenaud & Ferrucci haven't done it much favours).
Blimey... Don't remember the WHO warning of these risks!!! Not a bad race. Dixon was on fire. Totally deserves the win.
