I thought both Barbet and Hall played a lot of good football, yet we still look so vulnerable at the back, especially from corners. For all our nice football Derby had many clear chances. I think we look better defensively when Rangel and Wallace are the full backs, hope Rangel is fit enough to play Saturday.
Enjoyable game. Bit of a tense finish, but we held out. As others have mention, BOS and Eze were superb, so much ability and understanding. Enjoyed that, even at £39!!
Not long back and thawed out enough to post. What a great game! Truly entertaining footie with some great footie and skill on display. The lads played with passion and energy. Never gave up and got the deserved win. Absolutely loved it that it was Eze intercepting Rooney's pass that led to the winner. None of the QPR lads had a bad game and the play between Eze and Chair for the winner was just a joy. Long may we progress with this stylish and effective football.
Did anyone else have a sense of déjà vu watching Hall's finish? Just like OBZ day..... The ball coming out from a Derby defender straight to Hall, who struck it sweetly into the net Loved the crowd tonight singing OBZ as well.
We actually had more chances than them, just about (I've seen the stats). In the first half we had a small handful of shots that could (and maybe should) have been goals. Grant Hall has scored 4 this season There's really good team spirit atm. The players look like the trust each other and they all look like they're on board with the project.
Report when defrosted. It was absolutely f***ING cold BOS Eze Chair were great. Ball man of match for downing Stroud. Boy I'm cold
Ball has been consistently good this season - breaking up opposition attacks, always neat and tidy on the ball, and often a MOM contender for me. Quite a signing for bugger all.
Dave can now add Rooney to his list of ' Played for both ' on his MatchDay Threads ... Wayne Rooney; 25.02.2020 9:15 pm - 25.02.2020 9:16pm ( Temporary loan ) QPR 2 Derby 1 ( 1 assist ) What a great win and complete team performance. The whole team played well and showed great desire and ingenious endeavor going forward to a man. Two great goals for us but why don't we stick defenders on the post at corners anymore? Their equalizer prevented if we do.
I was pleased to see Hugill go off, he just seems so slow to react. As you say, BOS up top with those three behind him would terrify most defences. We were debating MOM on the way home and there were plenty of candidates from the Rs side - BOS, Ball, Manning, Barbet all did well, but Eze was tops for me.
Eze definitely, but it's always a good sign when you have so many to choose from. We did the same, some said BOS others said Barbet and Hall and some said Ball. Regardless it's all good. I'm so chuffed, I didn't expect a victory tonight. So it's so pleasing when you win these type of games. Wayne Rooney's Derby were made to look pretty ordinary, just goes to show that there's not that much difference in top to bottom despite the money spent. With the exception of West Brom who are a class above.
The “trick” in this league is consistency. Even now, if we win against Birmingham on Saturday, then we will be close to the door of the play-offs. Then should we play well and get results for the next 5 odd games, and “who knows”. Currently we play well and get results on a “batch” basis. Perhaps we may improve next season and be more consistent.
Yes I saw the stats, but what I meant was the many big chances they got only Keeper to beat close in. 2 at least were from corners, their goal and one very early which one of their CD's shot over. Then Waghorne also shot over early on, shot wide in added time, plus the last 10/15 they had plenty, Kelly made a good save from 1. Apart from our goals, and a good Pugh volley saved + Barbet heading over, I can't remember us getting or missing huge chances, just more difficult attempts going wide, and lots of good play, but usually not able to find the final ball into a scoring position. Great we won with style, but on other occasions we have and will get punished at the back, especially from corners, the way we aren't defending well enough.
The biggest shock of the evening was that the BBC failed to mention Wayne Rooney a single time in their match report
Blimey, all this positiveity, am I on the right forum? Just to put this slightly into perspective. We got away with it last night. We were second best in most aspects. They missed two golden opportunities from close in plus a very good chance at the end. We actually didnt create much at all. People mocking and rubbishing Rooney on here but he was different class to everything else on show last night. His passing (with one exception) was world class and he was everywhere he needed to be for the entire game. Very happy with the three points and what a joy it was to watch the four youngsters moving and passing the way they were post Hugill. It did however make us vulnerable defensively and we nearly blew it. Some top performances and difficult to pick a MOTM but the one lingering negative was the same old chestnut, we really need a decent keeper. At times Kelly looked ponderous and his distribution was poor.
Yep, fabulous result and I thought we moved the ball around well, managed to make space, and looked really good at times. Chair looked lively when he came on, but I still feel we're lacking an out and out striker. We're not quite the finished article, and I do still worry about how open we are at the back. Derby will be disappointed not to have scored with at least one of the chances they had in the last 15 minutes. Nevertheless it was an encouraging performance and it looks like we have something to build on. Onwards and upwards!!
Nicked this from Antti Korpela's twitter - QPR with Yoann Barbet this season: WDLLWWWWLWWDDWDW Three losses in 16 matches. Win precentage of 56,3% Pretty undeniable effect if you ask me. #QPR #QPRDER
I've just watched the game on Sky and at the end the commentator says '' Derby County's play-off dreams are fast withering, because QPR take three points towards preserving their place in the Championship for next season. '' Despite us going above Derby. Bizarre.
