Its clear now what a differnence the contribution of Bowen and to a lesser extent Grosiki made to our form and results. And it also shows how much talent Bowen actually has, to be able to lift a team as dire as this shows that. McCann needs to go.
I was happy with McCann at first, with his high press and risky approach. And was willing to keep believing for a long time against the emerging evidence. But today was it ! Maybe unreasonableness given that objectively (when is that a thing in football supporting anyway?) L**D's are a better team than Barnsley but I have to be less forgiving when it is the scum at home that we surrender to. There is no clear game plan, no organisation, a bunch of un-coordinated individuals of varying degrees of footballing ability. Honeyman was the best today, that's a low bar but at least he looked like he cared a bit. The players that McCann has brought in all try to do it all on their own with no concept of team. Seen some abject football in the late 90s but today felt worse, much worse. Not sure if that is just time.
If it comes down to the last game of the season, Leeds have a score to settle with Charlton. Charlton have an on loan striker from West Brom (Leko) who alleges keeper Casilla was racist. Leeds feel very aggrieved, and players / fans are going to get a torrid time at Elland Road.
Tbh I thought at least we were more competitive, had a bit more fight about us in the first 70 mins than against Barnsley, admittedly that bar wasn't very high, just no quality. A couple of half chances went begging, take one of them to equalise and could have been a different game, having said that they did hit the bar a couple of times and if not for Long, could have been a worse score line. We didn't trouble the novice keeper at all. Was just saying today, in 40 years of supporting City, I think this is one of the worst teams we've seen. Anyway, to lighten the mood, car park; "You can't park there, it's a disabled space," shouted the car park attendant. "There are eleven empty spaces - it's not as if eleven disabled people are all going to turn up at once, is it?" I replied. At which point the Leeds United team bus pulled up to disprove my theory.
Didn't we do that high pressing thing for about 2 games ? The amount of time and space we give the opposition when they have possession is ridiculous.
I had Hull down as a top six finisher, not too long ago. OK your team wasn't the best today but I hear you have a number of injuries and your manager may not be great, at the moment, but selling your best players and not replacing them signifies only one thing to me. You have a money grabbing, shyster owner who is bleeding your club into relegation. We've been there and I sympathise and I hope you get rid of Allam soon.
On a plus side I thought Balogh demonstrated more ability as a striker in 27 minutes than Magennis has in 20 odd appearances. That’s not difficult, but it’s a positive.
I think if it wasn't for injuries, he'd have been in the team ahead of Magennis, he's clearly the more talented footballer and with age on his side, could be a useful player for us if we keep him on.
Especially when they got beat in the League 1 Play Off's at Wembley by...…..Doncaster. The day after we'd beat Bristol City to go up to the Premier League,
Your deluded pal. Couldn't give a toss about lufc. No history with you what so ever. my grouse is with those phoney bastards from Hull and district who hang onto your coat tails for some reason.
