Little food for thought on a Sunday. How is it even remotely possible to "pretend" to buy a football club. Mike Ashley would have us believe all these wannabe buyers, such as BZG, PCP, etc., are "tyre kickers" wasting his precious time. But just think about what that fat tosser is actually saying here. He's effectively claiming that someone would go through the effort of paying for lawyers, putting themselves up for scrutiny, but not actually have the money to complete the transaction. So he's claiming they're making all this up, either fake lawyers, or fake paperwork, but how - exactly - are they going to "buy" the club, if - as he claims - they don't have the money? Is he accepting the bid, calling their bluff and letting them be found out in the press? Funny, it never seems to get that far. It seems we have to just take HIS word for it, that they are in fact schemers.

Now add this thought - these same schemers, whose reasons for doing this remain a mystery to me (press? ****s and giggle? a dare?), never seem to go to the press with what they've found. So I've been dwelling on this today and it's all left me really, really confused.

    - They can't be doing it as journalists, because no details come out.
    - They can't be pretending, because lawyers, etc., cost vast amounts of money.

I've realised that not one journalist seems to have come to the realisation that something very wrong is going on here. Can anyone here shed some light as to how it's possible to "pretend" to buy a club? If so, why can't I ring the club and pretend the same? Surely there's some level of diligence that goes on?

Or could it possibly be that Mike Ashley is a sociopath, a compulsive liar, who gets some sort of kick from leading people on a dance? Could he get some weird pleasure out of doing all this stuff - the media lies, the appointments and now the "I'm trying to sell, honest guv"? Is he enjoying stringing along would-be buyers the same as he strings along fans, with his v-signs and whatnot? Surely he's too rich to be this petty - or is he?

The fact nothing has been leaked or said recently either means there never was any truth in this one or they are waiting for safety.

Not the point - the point is Ashley's always got an "excuse". Caulkin said he'd physically seen the bids from Staveley. Ashley called her a tyre-kicker, or let rumours out that's what he thought.

If it's so easy to pretend to have money, how come no journalists, fans, etc., seem able to do it to get in this "data room"? England managers have been stung by fake sheikh's, but nobody's ever got one up on Mike in spite of decades of zero hours, child labour exploitation and Newcastle "ownership".

So according to Ashley you can basically say "hey Mike, I've got tonnes of cash, let me buy the club please" and you'll be into negotiations. Then by the same token Ashley's claiming these people, who he lets through the door, don't actually have the money. Erm, what? Sorry, it doesn't add up. You can pretend all you like, which would cost you a fortune (which you're not supposed to have, round and round we go) but if there's an agreement and you KNOW you don't have £300m, it's gonna look pretty ****ing stupid. Not only that, but you'd imagine the seller is going to be mightily pissed and hang you out to dry. Mike doesn't. Anybody else find this a bit odd? For a mouthy, mealy dickhead like Ashley, who calls out Debenhams and HoF directors VERY vocally, doesn't it seem a bit out of character to then not go screaming about how Staveley's a fraud? Or how BZG had no clout? That seems like EXACTLY the kind of thing Ashley would actually do.

Like the Joelinton transfer, there's something very off about everything. Journalists don't seem compelled to find out what it is, or are reluctant to publish it. It's all really puzzling. I wonder if we'll ever find out.

Ashley doesn’t and never has wanted to sell.
He uses NUFC as a PR machine and any type of coverage is good PR

I was just referring to Roy Munson's post. His end of the world, doom and gloom post (i.e. most of them) used to always include the immortal phrase "We will sell all our best players and get relegated" Now it appears he thinks they will be staying put.

His new catch phrase "We will lose all our best potential owners and get relegated".

    Or........
As is pretty much de rigeur these days, would be buyers want to put down a deposit, then pay the rest in instalments from the club's own coffers! Hate him, or despise him, that is not how Ashley does business. Take a look at the many clubs that have gone into administration over the past few years, see how the 'owner's' get there money back, everyone else get at best 1%.
As far as it goes, a virtually garaunteed Premier league club for the foreseeable future, and probably FA cup holder, has clearly increased the value of the company :).
As i have said before, it's a very simple case of 'show him the money'.
