Good Morning. It's Friday 6th March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road.

    Leeds chase Canadian Striker

Turkish outlet Besiktas have claimed that if Leeds want to sign Canadian striker Cyle Larin this summer, they will have to double their expectations.

Leeds have sent scouts to watch the 24yo hitman in action at Belgian side Zulte Waregem where he is on loan for the season.

So far, the No 9 has contributed nine goals and 11 assists from his 32 appearances.

Leeds are understood to value Larin at 5m, but due to the season he is having, Besiktas are believed to want double that amount!

    Bielsa Pre Match Press Conference

Bielsa will select the same starting XI as last week. It's bad news for Tyler Roberts who came on for the last 25 minutes against Hull and scored a brace, whilst Bamford has not scored since his double against Millwall in January.

What does a striker have to do to displace Bamford? When a player is off form, is it fair to both the player, and the team to continue to select him? Would a spell on the sidelines do Bamford good?

Augustin has a hamstring injury. Will we ever see him in a Leeds shirt again? Is the Frenchman unhappy with his predicament of playing second fiddle to Bamford?

What about Poveda. We know he is not injured, and there is no fitness problem. Why can't he even make the bench?

Bowyer critical of FA following Casilla outcome

Ex Leeds legend, now Charlton Manager Lee Bowyer has been talking about the effects the racism row had on Jonathan Leko and witness Macauley Bonne. The 43yo was also highly critical it took the FA to make a decision

“He (Jonathan) wasn’t himself,” Bowyer said.

“He’s a bubbly lad, young lad, confident lad.

“He was a bit quiet for a while after.

“For us then as a group we got him through that and he started to become himself again.

“Obviously with his injury he went back to West Brom and he’s not been around for a while, but while he was here everyone was here to support him.

“It’s been dealt with and everyone now and we can move on, especially Jonathan.”

“It’s not been fair on both clubs and all players involved to go on as long as it did, especially for Jonathan and Maca (Macauley Bonne -who was a witness).

    “It’s too long.

“To have something like that hanging over you, it’s difficult.

“For a young player as well, 19, 20, it’s not a nice thing to have to carry.

“There’s a protocol in place and everyone’s told to report it, which is the right thing to do, but there has to be support and actions taken.

“Moving forward, what we learn from it is that it gets dealt with quickly.

“I get there’s a process to be taken, but if that can get done quicker then I think its better for all party’s involved.”

Bowyer refused to comment on the severity of Casilla’s punishment and outlined that the wider issue of racism should be tackled.

“The FA took control of it and gave the ban, given their punishment, whatever Leeds do is up to Leeds, so I won’t comment.

“Any racism is not acceptable, us as a football club we work hard with ‘kick-it-out’ to prevent things like that happening, its disappointing but we have to move forward.

Augustin and Poveda what great recruitment in January, let’s hope the team continue to prove we don’t need them. I’m okay with Roberts being on the bench, let him come on when the opponents have tired, he’d probably get injured playing the full 90 anyway.

I don’t think we’ll see Kiko play again, I believe he probably said what was accused but I’m hating the word probably and it’s still wrong to be found guilty based on that alone. The club stood by Bowyer over his incident many years ago: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2003/aug/23/newsstory.sport3 (reminder) so it’s no wonder he should pass no comment on how the club handles it.

I guess the media are going to press Bielsas buttons over it hoping we go into self destruct, god help Bielsa, the team and Meslier if he makes a mistake as this won’t go away.

good morning to matt and co from a sunny Bardsey
I feel that Bamford should be benched as it sends the wrong message out to the rest of the team that you can play badly and still retain your place

    Morning all.

As frustrating as it is, I'm now resigned to the fact that we don't have a striker in our system. Bamford might lead the line but scoring goals in a Bielsa team is the responsibility of the team, not a striker. Bamford works towards the team goal of err....scoring goals. I fully expect Bamford to start tomorrow. Who knows, he might score, but he will definitely carry on the job of wearing out the Udders defence ready for super sub Roberts to stroll on and score the winner.

Anyway, that's what I keep telling myself and it's the only thing that's going to stop me having a bloody heart attack !

    Sounds about right to me
If it makes you feel any better just have a look at the table goals for and against and goal difference
    We’re not doing bad
I may well change my tune tomorrow but then again I am a fickle bastward

Morning all if Leko needs counselling when someone swears at him he should avoid playing dominoes with pensioners.

Morning all. January window was a waste of time. No surprise, same donkey doing the signings, Orta. Reason many are surprised, even shocked, is the ridiculous predictions some fans were making that these were two world beaters. Poveda for example, never played for city but trained with some great players. Big deal. Hopefully he makes it sometime in the future. Just hope we stay relatively injury free for remaining fixtures as cover is wafer thin. Expect lots more iffy signings in the future if Orta is still doing them regardless of what division were in or the budget. How many players I wonder has he signed for the future. Anyway, important stuff is tomorrow. Would settle now for maintaining our five point gap to third whatever way we go about it

One game at a time. We should beat Huddersfield at home. We just need to sneak 3 points here. Every game is big but with Cardiff and Fulham coming up this is one that looks easier on paper. Big game.

The club stood by him and Woody throughout the trial. After sentencing the club fined them. Bowyer rejected the fine, refused to sign a new contract and was sold for a pittance.

I’m glad he has now found the moral high ground ! :emoticon-0132-envy:

Loved Bowyer at the time, but he really burned his bridges after this. Wasn't he lined up for a £7 Million move to Liverpool at the time which would have really benefited us in our time of need, almost nailed on then he turned it down at the last minute ? Then ended up going to West Ham for peanuts. I remember thinking he was doing it on purpose to **** the club (probably not in hindsight).

For those who.heard about that case today where the ruler of Dubai was found to be guilty of ‘helping’ his adult daughters find their way back home, you may not have realised the lawyer they keep interviewing from some human rights support charity is none other than our very own David Haigh. Small world.
