Good Morning. It's Monday 9th March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road.

Leeds return to Apex of the Championship

Leeds returned to the Apex of the Championship after a comfortable 2-0 win over neighbours Huddersfield Town.

The Whites took the lead in spectacular fashion. Harrison delivered a peach of a ball to the far side of the penalty area, and there was on form Luke Ayling to volley the ball first time from 25 yards, crashing through the roof of the net via the crossbar giving Terriers keeper Jonas Lossl no hope.

Aylings 'Zico' style strike earned the wing back his third goal in five games, and fourth overall for the season, making the 28yo the fourth highest goal scorer for the Whites this season, along with Klich.

Throughout Aylings 135 appearances, he has now found the back of the net six times.

Patrick Bamford returned to the scoresheet following a seven game drought 5 minutes into the second half.

A free kick from outside the penalty area was headed across goal by Ben White, but the big Danish keeper managed to get his finger tips onto the ball; Bamford reacted the quickest to prod the ball home from three yards giving him his thirteenth goal of the season and beyond Huddersfield's reach.

To make the win even more satisfying, West Brom and Fulham were held to draws whilst Nottingham Forest were thrashed at home by Millwall 3-0.

Brentford moved into fourth spot with a convincing 5-0 demolition job over Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites are top on 71 points, two points less than they were on this time last year. The difference being that they are seven points (with GD) clear of Fulham whereas last term the Blades were only two points behind us!

Currently the Bookies have Leeds at 1/66 to get promoted. It means you would have to place £330 to win a fiver!

Leeds have a 97% chance of Promotion

According to the Soccer prediction site FiveThirtyEight, Leeds are predicted to collect 18 points from their remaining nine games (18 from 27pts).

They forecast that the Whites will top the Championship come May with 89 points with the Baggies in second place on 85 points.

Would you settle with 18 points from the last nine games?

    Good morning all...

Five wins and five clean sheets on the bounce and now 6 unbeaten. Two consecutive clean sheets for the young keeper will have given him confidence too. I’d settle for 18 points as long as 1 point or all 3 were against Fulham. Actually with the rest all playing each other 18 points should easily be enough

Morning Elland and all. I’d settle for 14 points and failing that 4 to get us in playoffs

Morning all, yes would snatch your hand off for 18 points, expecially if 1 of them was against Fulham as that would give us promotion.
Can see us winning the league behind closed doors, which will be sad, in an empty stadium, and singing stop crying sheep shaggers at the TV when we beat dirby. <laugh>

It's a good job Luke Ayling has decided he wants to play in the PL next year!

    Morning All!

Great win again, and Ayling's goal was amazing to say the least.

I'd be happy with 18 points, but lets be even more positive, and let just go to winning all the remaining games and be super optimistic.. (I must have Monday happy pills for me to be this positive ha).

Another win on Sunday against Cardiff would be welcome, and another step towards promotion.

I said this before Sheff Utd home game last season but we dare not lose to Fulham a week on Wednesday.

I'd happily take a point right now.

Sadly I fear you are correct about the closed door thing. Likely will be confirmed today as your government are meeting sports associations and broadcasters. Just our luck too, years of attending all variations of games, suffering so many disappointments and when it may have at last come to be our time, the stadiums are closed and were all stuck at home watching

    Morning all.
I think Fulham and Cardiff are good games for us. They both need a result much more than we do. Cardiff can't sit 10 men behind the ball in front of home Taffs and we're not playing Fulham in London!
6 points and clean sheets from them games and I'm going to start to dream.
I think 84 points will be enough and I think WBA might not make autos, you heard it here first.

I'm still a one game at a time man, but what a time to go on an unbeaten run. I don't think tiredness will effect the players this time around. I just think that they are mentally and physically stronger and have learn't from last season. The only word of caution and I apologise for trying to sound sensible, but every game from now on in will be difficult, we've the bottom three to play, Fulham, Stoke, Cardiff and Blackburn who will be difficult if they turn up.But if we win 7 we get promoted. <ok>

    Good morning all
Announced by the BBC this morning, no plans to play any games behind closed doors.
Although i might add to that ATM. Although if the hysteria over this corona virus continues they might not have any choice,as the beeb said so theirs so much misinformation going around on social media which a lot of people are believing that it's making matters a lot worse than they should be, ie shelf shortages etc.

All games should be covered by there own TV channels, might keep some clubs from going bust.

Normally three weeks prior to game. If it's a Sat game, just count back three Mondays...30th March I'd say...<ok>

Seems to me that cancelling the international break and then bringing forward the last 2 league fixtures to be played over that period would be the sensible thing to do.

Would mean the season ending two weeks earlier and it’s unlikely that those international fixtures will take place anyway.

If the jocks and Irish have to play due to Euro 2020 then clubs just play without those players.

Just needs someone at the FA/PL/EFL to show some foresight and make the decision now.

I'm more worried about our players getting the virus than the closed door thing. We have a smaller squad than most, so may really have to draw on the u-23s. Peak expected in mid-late April to May :emoticon-0141-whew:
