I think it's the players bottling it and panicking not Parkinson. He's probably as frustrated as anyone that he's not doing anything different behind the scenes but on the pitch we've gone from winners to wet blankets.

All the long ball crap isn't coming from Parky it's the players nerves kicking in. It's why we tend to play better after half time because they get a bollocking and get back on track. However as fans if we cheer them on and not contribute to their nerves with booing etc we can have a part to play in the rest of the season.

Clarke for them elbowed Flangan in the face abd then elbowed willis in the face - got a yellow card for the second of his 2 borderline red card infringements.

Flanagan went down holding his nose and the ref stopped play then he jumped up in anger at the lack of a free kick. Got booked for that. Leehy could've had a second yellow for a poor challenge on Maguire. We were no worse than them in the ****ehousing stakes (not anywhere near as bad) but they managed to get 4 of our players booked by doing it. The tackle on Scowen I still maintain it was a straight red. First foul on Flanagan was borderline red (not sure who by but it was all studs showing)

It looked to me like their manager had spoken to the ref and said "they should've had a goal disallowed because of a clash of heads in the first game so can you give us some this timme" and he gave them everything.

I still think we should've won the game - not on the balance of play (by any stretch) just that the ref, regardless of how poor he was, shouldn't have been an issue - we didn;t do enough to deserve even a 2-0 loss imo!!

The biggest disappointment for me last night was Lafferty , too easily drawn into the sort of spats that they were looking for, this was just asking for trouble with this Ref. This forced PP to take him off for his own good. And we continued to struggle with a like for like change that just gave them another easy lone target. This reduced our chances to make any meaningful tactical changes from the bench, say by adding a second target man, or better still turning to pace up front which would have been my choice in this game, the players seemed to be slipping a lot on the surface and Watmore, Hume and Semenyo up top might have caused their leviathans more problems than the rag taggle bunch we ended up with, even so we could have got a point from this game if Big Jon had saved a very poor penalty and Grigg had not missed the easiest chance in the game at the death. Even now all is not lost and a good rest might just do us a favour in the next week or two, and give our run down battery's a chance to re-charge, OaU hopefully.

In an interview with ALS ( I think) their manager more or less said they would use any and all tactics to break the game up to stop us playing.
Well he was true to his word and yet again we couldn't handle it, easily bullied and no protection from the officials, we've been as weak as piss since we were relegated to this crap league and under two managers we haven't got to grips with the physicality that is League 1.
When we get the ball down and play football we look fairly decent and the opposition have all learnt if they stop us playing we're fairly easy to beat.
Don't know what the answer is other than signing a lot of 6'+ gangsters if we're still in this league next season.

Don't always agree with Stephen Elliott, but I think he's called it right in this case. We have too many of our squad who know they'll be shown the door if we were to be promoted, as they are simply not good enough.
Only way forward imo, is for new owners to invest in Championship ready players, who can make the step up with us. Recruiting League One players who have been promoted with other clubs is not working.

    First of all
I will always support my team till I die
    Having said that imho
We have recruited cheap lower league players who were supposed to the cream of the crop.
The players we have are simple not good enough.
We are supposed to have the best squad in the league.
All the other teams in the league are also very week and poor
Therefore with our supposedly better squad I feel it’s down to work rate
There is games left to be won
However unless we work hard for each other what little skill we have can not be used.
The only way forward with poor players is to work our sock off and that’s stopped

We have run out of steam lately and this was forecast by some, who were calling for greater use of the squad, maybe if this had been done earlier we might now not be looking like a spent force, who knows.

Still sick as a chip, but not as bad as last night.

Good points about the lack of rotation causing burnout, and not recruiting players that can step up.

Another factor is that the right hand-side of the team was a great partnership, but they've gone off the boil. One or more players have gone into their shell and it's caused a ripple effect.

I think, before last night, Maguire has been one of our best players recently. Last night he was absolutely dreadful though - and that is Maguire in a nutshell unfortunately!

Have said before, if he was a "top of his game 8 out of 10 times" he'd be in the premier league - but because he's a "top of his game <5/10" he's in league 1. I'd have him in the championship simply because of his capability!

Just sitting at airport reading this and agree with every word ....

... including leaving before the end which I very rarely do.

Semenyo is all about pace and running with the ball at his feet but we ignored that. It was totally disjointed and we were never in the game. For a team that could've gone second it was heartless.

Last night the players didn't pass the ball, they passed the buck.

Boy do we need a big result at Blackpool.

I've seen many comments after other games that we have no talent, can't play football, maybe my expectations are too low but I've watched some good football from our lads this season, good passing moves, decisive through balls and crosses and a few cracking goals. Last night however, we played worse than I care to remember, it was embarrassing, we were playing a poor team but we were far worse. Was there a game plan? Was there any endeavour, Was there any heart, I didn't see it, just a gang of blokes playing see how far you can kick a ball.
I usually manage to find something positive, even in defeat, the only poitive I could find was that we didn't collect any red cards!
    Wow, that was crap!

Can't disagree there but surely promotion from L1 and a medal to go with it would be the highlight of some of those players careers so why not go for it and then another promotion chasing team may want them if we show them the door...

They're also not going the right way about getting a new contract at SAFC by playing like that so they could be gone either way. Best to go on a high surely!

... sod building steadily, the academy, sell on values, whatever.

just gone 61 here marra...and a 'full on high risk' for the virus, shame they stopped the games as i might not have too many left to watch (or is that a good thing?)...i honestly thought the club cracked it with the two 7th places in the premier and looked forward to a couple of possible trophies, ahh well... at least we are lucky enough to remember the biggest day ever in sunderland!!
