Now here's a point I never thought about - in the EFL, gate receipts are what basically keeps a club going. Most of our income will be from gate receipts rather than TV revenue etc. If the league/government/whoever forces clubs to finish their season and they end up close to or in administration due to a lack of income from gate receipts, where does that leave them? Could be 50 clubs with -15 points at the start of next season!
I love playing golf - although can;t swing a club at the minute due to rotator cuff injuries in both shoulders!! Luckily it doesn't impact my running!!
Could last for months, did with me. Got an appointment for physio at the hospital, but it wore off so I cancelled. A couple of weeks later, I got it in my other shoulder. Hasn’t stopped me swinging a club yet, thankfully.
Impossible to stop, but the rate of infection can be drastically reduced, and as the growth is exponential, the earlier that measures are taken to prevent the spread, the more effective they will be. There is plenty of research and figures available online, but this is the simplest graphic I have seen which explains the situation: If a million people get infected in a week, the NHS will be swamped and many will die. If a million people get infected over the course of a year, it's a much more manageable problem. Also, the virus is much less contagious in the incubation period, so self-isolation as soon as symptoms are shown is in fact an extremely effective method to contain the outbreak.
I'm expecting most premiership games to be cancelled this weekend and if that happens it shouldn't be expected that lower leagues play as well.
Been well over a year now! But they can;t do steroids (next step) as I'm type 1 diabetic and steroid injections cause massive issues with blood sugar! I'm possibly facing an operation on both of them
Winding me 76 year old Father up i said "you'll have to stop garn the pub". "Whys that like"?. "Well yer emphysema and this Corona virus". "Aye like fùck".
Think you're going to be right on that score. Uefa discussing a year's postponement for the Euro's. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51859548 If loads of domestic games can't be played in the next couple of months, makes sense to play them in the summer when hopefully old corona has done the rounds and things have settled down a bit. La Liga has bit the dust for the next two weeks, Serie A nothing until April 3rd at the earliest, and France has banned fans till sometime in April. Only way to get these games played is to run the season into the summer and sack the Euros off for a year.
Yes I had a rotator cuff injury a couple of years ago caused by front crawl swimming and lifting the grandson out of the pool. The Physio I use was furious with the GP, cos he hgave me a cortisone injection, which us the right thing to do, but only in conjunction with say an ultrasound scan, cos if you do not get the injection in the exact right millimetre spot, it is a waste of time and very painful. An operation can also be helpful, but must be carried out fairly soon after the injury occurred. I just did lots of stretching bots of rubber, and rowing was good also. If you do a lot of running you probably have a good physio you trust...atm for my PF, I am aiming to do about 200 reps a day to strengthen Achilles and calf.
In light of today’s announcement by the UK Government, EFL matches will continue to take place as normal while the guidance from the relevant authorities remains that there is no medical rationale to close or cancel sporting events at this time. The EFL, however, will continue to work with Government and relevant stakeholders to further develop contingency plans to ensure the League is best placed to act as and when any potential restrictions may come into force. Immediately following the announcement by the Prime Minister, EFL Chair Rick Parry held discussions with the FA and Premier League and agreed on a consistent approach ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. Matters will be further discussed at a meeting called by European Football’s Governing body, UEFA, on Tuesday 17 March. The League will continue to liaise with the Government regarding ongoing developments and will continue to work with Clubs to ensure players, staff and supporters are updated and appraised accordingly. These matters are, of course, subject to change and we will update as appropriate. https://www.efl.com/news/2020/march/efl-statement-coronavirus-update2/
Mikel Arteta tests positive for the covid-19 virus https://www.arsenal.com/news/club-statement-covid-19 So that's Arteta, Dybala, Gabiaddini (Manolo) & Rugani all with the virus
I wonder how many of the Arsenal squad that will affect, I don't know how many of them the manager will be physically close to day to day but there's his assistants etc and it seems to spread like wildfire. Trump might have it, on Saturday he was stood next to and shaking hands with someone who it turns out has it. At his age he'd be at serious risk.
It's from the Daily Mail so take the numbers with a pinch of salt as they can barely spell their own name. Death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in Italy jumped by 189 to 1,016 in the last 24 hours - a 23 per cent rise Total cases in Italy rose to 15,113 from a previous 12,462, marking the biggest daily rise in absolute terms If it's accurate that's way worse than the previous estimates. Holy ****. No worse than a bad cold my arse.
Sadly those figures are correct. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ It's out of control and the thinking is that we (UK) are 6-8 weeks behind that kind of scenario.
In France I'm expecting they'll close all schools, unis, etc, by next week with sport being hit as well.
