We’ll have to beg to differ, with several teams saying they’re unable to play because of players going into self isolation this decision by the EFL and PL is about players not fans. If they don’t resume the season can you imagine how many clubs will go out of business.
I think this season is highly unlikely to restart. Early April is when the outbreak is predicted to peak. Even with the Euros pushed back and running the season into June/July with so many teams having player contracts expiring in June would make this impractical. The only sensible solution is to void the season and restart next season ‘as you were’. I’m sure the billions we’re no longer giving to Jean-Claude and his chums will be able to help clubs with financial difficulties.
I would have thought the most sensible thing from a financial point of view and fairest to all concerned is to try and finish this seasons fixtures at some point - even if it isn't until August. Could then have a short break to allow transfer activity, end of contracts etc, and start a new short season of 25 games or so late in the year. But just at the moment, impossible to make any decisions. I know football authorities getting some stick for just postponing till 3rd April when in theory we'll be nearer the peak of the outbreak, but given the situation is changing from day to day, seems to me sensible to have made a short term decision rather than try at this point to make a long term one.
It's both... 'This decision has not been taken lightly, but the EFL must prioritise the health and well-being of players, staff and supporters while also acknowledging the Government’s national efforts in tackling this outbreak'. It's likely that things will be much worse in early April, which will make it hard for the to justify resuming games and if it runs much later than that, it won't be practical to complete the games before player contracts start running out (though that will obviously remain the aim if possible).
Suspect that something like that will happen. With league placings being as they are now. So City survive. We will ge the miracle we need
You're not listerning. The squad have been in the pub all afternoon and we've had a whale of a time on the piss.
Saw Urika Peece this morning we speculated Charlton would be last game for a while arranged to see him in pub pre match, buggeration
