If the possible resume date is 3 April and all clubs report clean bills of health on that date it would be possible to play behind closed doors.
No chance they can get every PL footballer and the coaching staff to live in complete isolation, including from their families, until the games were eventually played behind closed doors. Not a hope in hell.
So the Scotland v Wales 6 nations game is finally off but 1000's of Irish folk are in Cheltenham for the festival and having a great time despite their new shut down . hmmm.
Computer simulations indicate the UK is in the early stages. The government's top scientists believe it is too soon to impose severe restrictions. Such limitations might last several months and risk "self-isolation fatigue", with people leaving their homes when the epidemic reaches its height. I really hope I’m wrong but by the time April 4th is here, it will be out of the FA’s/UEFA’s hands. Batard
As far as I'm concerned we've won it anyway, regardless of what the record books say. A shame if the achievement doesn't get the official recognition it deserves, but it's beyond our control. However, I haven't yet given up hope on the season being completed if the virus itself can be kept in check. It's too early to say just how damaging it might be. It's a bugger, but just another reminder that there are more important things than football.
This ties in with me saying they'd jumped too soon imposing mass shutdown on clubs instead of just those affected. Carry on as normal unless you have a reported case is a better way of doing this than closing up all the shops. I think this had created a whole new situation where the message isn't clear anymore. 2 healthy clubs can't play a fixture because .....?
They don't cancel fixtures when a manager/player gets any other illness. Arsenal should be docked points, entirely their own stupidity. They cancel the Man City game because they're so scared of coronavirus, but not so scared as to actually test anyone or take preventative measures. Some days later Arteta ends up sick well that's your own fault moron.
Yeah and if their game with City hadn’t have been cancelled then Arteta could have potentially infected City players and Pep, but yeah stupid or something.
They might as well have played the game if they were just going to let the players and Arteta wander around infecting whoever they wanted anyway. Isolate or don't. Half measures are pointless.
The season hasn't been abandoned, it's been postponed. There'll be hell to pay if we're not awarded the title. It's ****ing ours!
I think it was sensible to postpone the city game knowing some had been in contact with a person with the virus. Didn't the people involved self isolate from the minute they found out? The rest of the team couldn't then play because they'd all had contact with those who may have been incubating. (Although from what I've read the virus is only spread once symptoms are showing).
100% this, said it already... and I said it last week too! Interested to see what happens if the season is abandoned... Go as things stand and relegate the current bottom three? Can't see them three accepting that; likely to require large compensation to avoid court cases. Cancel the season and restart when it's suitable? Can't see the Championship clubs going for promotion being too happy; likely to require large compensation to avoid court cases. Resume the season when the all clear is given? Who participates the Europe next season? Maybe the whole of Europe (or the world) will be shut down. However, football will just be on hold in this instance and resume once the all clear success.
No the Arsenal team just said, "maybe we we exposed by that infected guy that visited so let's do Pep a favour and cancel the game but take **** all other precautions". They said they were worried about coronavirus but did nothing. IMO that's criminal. If they really belived the threat existed then act like it did.
They cancelled the game because they thought there might be coronavirus. They tested no one. Arteta got sick so they tested him and found out he had it. If I worked for Arsenal and got sick because they couldn't be bothered testing or isolating even though that was their reason for cancelling a game then I would sue the **** out of them.
At the end of the day whether they self isolated or not they didn't play on regardless and now the decision not to play has been made for everyone so their actions or lack of haven't altered anything. Just read an article saying by far the preferred option by the leagues is to finish this campaign whenever that may be.
