A mate who posts on RTG reckons Roger, the boss, is posting which is rare ... ... usually a sign that numbers are down. I wonder if the suspension of football will affect forums like this one. I've no idea how they work or how they're financed tbh.
Yeah I don't get it either, if there's no advertising revenue who is paying for it and why? Usually adverts are the only way sites like this stay afloat.
I've often wondered how this site operates cos I've no idea how things go in the background. How long can we all keep this going when there is no footie to talk about, off topics are all well and good but it's the football we all crave for like a drug addled junkie. It's going to be an interesting few weeks if not a lot longer but who can tell at this stage.
It'll be an interesting period and, in fairness to @brb, we would keep the place vibrant imo. I'm sure we all have enough to say
I think from a forum perspective it's no different to pre-season, albeit a possibly extended one now, where people just talk shhite for months on end. I think some of it will come down to moderation as well, and club boards and moderators having to accept that something needs to fill the gap. Generally I don't even mess about on my own club board, I go into the Premier (non club) board section - where the moderation is lighter and generally ppl don't get banned, well unless they piss me off YOU the supporters run your own club boards how you want, and each board does something different, some boards are less strict that others, within the club boards you guise make the rules not me. I only get involved if called by a mod, or someone is being an utter twat that it's caught my attention. Anyway it is what is is for now, only knows how the FA and EFL will sort this mess out, the eventual outcome is bound to piss someone off
I was going to watch Sunderland RCA and Ryhope CW in the coming weeks, but their matches have also been postponed due to COVID-19. I can't understand how these are cancelled but South Shields game is still on..
I’m sure a forum like this will pass on bits of information like email address etc and make a few quid that way. No objections to that, world we live in.
It's funny that you've reminded me about the Newcastle board just at a time when it's looking on its last legs. I had another look just now, and it's had about a dozen posts since Saturday. Poor old Albert is still desperately trying to keep it going, but unless Sunderland are playing they can't find anything to talk about. Albert thought he was such a clever lad when he banned Sunderland posters from there ... ... but they just can't manage to come up with anything original, witty or interesting. Some of the best threads they ever had were when we were all posting.
